I just booked New Years Eve Night at my regular weekly show. I'm looking for some IDEAS for some fun BAR type GAMES to play in between the singers and the other music. Does anyone have any experience using DVD based trivia / or game show type games ??? Would these work in a bar enviroment with multiple TV screens? |

I know it's going to be busy, I was thinking I would need something to keep everyone "involved" since its going to be a long night. Besides Karaoke and dancing i was thinking some games would be fun? |

I'm anticipating a very MIXED crowd and more than likely a more NON karaoke night than usual. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see. |

A few years ago, I went to a 20s casino night at a bar for New Years...everyone was asked to dress up in mobster/flapper type gear. $15 cover came with a two drink coupons and $20 got you $1000 worth of chips and two more drink coupons. There were like 4 poker tables (dealer's choice), three blackjack tables, a roulette table, etc.. The casino night ended at 11:00 on the dot and they handed out chapagne, poppers, noise makers, etc.. After the midnight festivities calmed down, there was an auction for about 20 prizes, with the grand prize being a DVD/VCR player. They started with the expensive prizes and worked down, and you are auctioning with the chips you won in the casino games from earlier. There were a few leftover prizes that were raffled them off. The 20s theme just seems to go along with New Years for some reason. It was a blast!! |

I would suggest playing new years music for in between music.. Things like party like its 1999...And now I can't think of any other party songs!!! That will keep the crowd pumped....Everytime I go out on New Years it's always just crazy with dancing and singing. I can't imagine the music stopping and playing a game....\\Anyway that's my opinion.... |

Remember where you heard this. You said regular karaoke night. If they are charging couples to get in, it's not a regular karaoke night. It's NEW YEARS EVE that just happens to fall on a night that you are regularly booked. There is a big difference. You could have many people that paid to get in, that don't give a rats A** about karaoke. You will need a lot of good dance music. That crowd unless it is a mostly karaoke crowd. Will want to dance and party. I'm guessing more dance and party than karaoke. Unless the karaoke songs are dance songs. I don't think it will be game time. NON STOP MUSIC. One fades out the other fades in. Better practice doing it without the usual filler music standby crap. It's time to be a professional. :O :worship: I assume you will be charging big money. Keep thinking like a professional, nonstop music. No dead air, no looking/waiting for singers to come to the stage. The clubs reputation is on the line and your shoulders. Only 3 things that can ruin this night. Bad music or bad food. |

New years Eve is usually a guarrenteed crowd that is going to get drunker and wilder than usual. I agree that you probably won't have to worry about keeping them entertained with games. It sounds like you are trying to be prepared for anything, which is good. It might be fun to do a dance contest. Games depend a lot on what type of crowd you will have. Will people be dressed up? Are they serving dinner? If you have a classier atmosphere for example it might be fun to do a honey mooners type of game like they do on cruise ships. If it is a laid back atmosphere you can do a bar game like buy a bunch of baby bottles fill them part of the way with beer and have girls get down on their knees while the men hold the bottles in front of them. The girls have to try to be the first one to finish the bottle. LMAO I see this game in the bars in Chicago all the time. It is hillarious. |
