What is a good company amongst the following?

CAVS
Based out of Korea
90 Day Labor and 1 Year Warranty
Uses Super-G
Has its own Discussion group/Tech Support

VocoPro
Based out of USA
1 Year Labor and Parts
Uses DIVX
Many Service Centers in the USA, Around since 1991

RSQ
Based out of Japan
1 Year Parts and 90 Day Labor
Uses NeoG+
Fastest Loading time in its class
Around since 1996

Does anyone have an opinion?
1)  Which is the best format amongst DIVX, NeoG+ and Super G?
2)  What company would you buy from?
3) I am looking for a multiformat Karaoke Player (CD-G/DVD)
4) What is the accepted standard for Karaoke enthusiasts?  DIVX, NeoG+ or SuperG?

Is it due to features or product performance?

Sorry about being so analytical.  I like to be educated on these products.

features are fantastic when they work. The player itself appears unstable and has to be switched off and on every so often due to it locking up. Also a couple of the scdg discs that came with it wont play above 800. Not sure if its the disc or the player but its kinda not inspiring me

I don't use RSQ but I have a Cavs 203g USB and it works great with the Super CDG's but it does lock up a lot when using Mp3 cd"s or VCD's, I also use the vocopro 40 gig hard drive unit with all my Karaoke songs converted to DIVX format and that works flawlessly so far and it's been about a year. My favorite player is my Acesonic KOD Jukebox It's a little pricey but very very stable and its been working steady for more than a year with no complaints. so my vote would be none of the above ... Go with an Acesonic.

Sounds like the CAVS is a one to avoid.  I saw a Pioneer but it was more than what my wife wanted to spend on our daughter.  I am buying a machine first thing in the morning.  I am currently working the night shift (Still in residency but it is my last week of this mess).

My wife didn't want to spend more than $300 but it looks like closer to $400 when I buy a few CDs and 2 microphones.

I read that Dynamic microphones are more durable than the Condenser (which I read was more sensitive to drops - ie 6 year old children).

Not saying kids won't drop them.    But I have done many parties with kids.   They never drop the mikes.   It's always an idiot.     I had a brand new mike.   In the first week I used it, another KJ dropped it.      :O

For your 6 year old daughter, I would still honestly get an all in one unit.  With a separate player, you are going to need to go through your stereo which karaoke shouldn't be done in the first place - bigger chance of blowing speakers & possibly amps.

As far as mics, condensor mics need phantom power to make them work, if you are just using a player to plug the mics into, you'll never need a condensor mic - plus they are much more expensive.

There are still some JVC's out there. If you can pick one of those players up, you've got a great machine.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I ended up purchasing a VocoPro.   I bought her about 8 CD-G discs.  It ought to keep her amused for say, at least a week.  :hi5:

We were singing together on a unit that our housekeeper let us try out - it was quite fun.

I bought with American Express that has a Buyer's protection plan.  I will thoroughly test this machine before the grace period for returns runs out.

extremely smart decision!! Best of luck!

Play around with the stopping and starting of it. You may notice lots of pixelation errors... also with copies, from my personal experience, they're pretty hedgy... hopefully they've improved on this, but I won't hold my breath!

All I have are originals.

This machine works really well.

It gets so addicting that I have a hard time putting the mic down.

Thats Karaoke for ya. Its what keeps all the KJs in business, making the BIG $$$$. It mainly comes down to the software. theres plenty out there so you wont get tired of doing the same songs. You can get some good deals on line, it can get a bit expensive. Have a good time

You say to yourself, "Oh, just one more song".

"Oops! I'm late for work again!", you exclaim.
