Hi folks,

I'm looking to get my 6 year old daughter a small karaoke system for her bedroom for X-mas.  Don't want to spend more than about $200.

Any suggestions for something durable and reliable?

Thanks

WalMart sells a couple of small systems that will work.  Also check Toys R Us!

Buy your daughter a MagicSing mic, which goes for under $200 on the web.  All you need to add is a small TV to complete the setup.

Except you can't buy music for those can you?  At least with a cdg based system, you can music you want still.

Cool, but I just don't want to get her anything crappy.

Not gonna fire up the big rig so she can sing twinkle twinkle, ya know what I mean?

Right but for $200, you aren't going to be getting the creme of the crop either.

Here you go.  This will be fun for her & it has a camera built in so she'll be able to see herself on the screen behind the words.

Sure, you can.  Songs are encoded in chips that you install within the mic's body.  Each chip can contain thousands of songs, and you can install up to 4 additional chips.  The Entertech ED-9000 has 2,058 songs when you buy it.

This is for a 6 year old girl and the budget is only less than $200.  The ED-9000 is below that price point, very portable, and has thousands of popular songs.  I consider this mic a very good karaoke mic for home use and the kid will have a lot of fun using it.  Try one out at a local karaoke store just for kicks.

Here the link to one of this site's sponsors:

I have seen lower prices from other stores, and there are some used ones on ebay too.[/quote]

It Cost Around $420.00 Dollars On A Lot Of Karaoke Websites. :read:

This Is True But When She Is 12 She Will Still Have It. JUST KIDDING! I Forgot About Her Age And His Price Point, But That Aside The RSQ-ECHOPRO Is A Nice Unit For What It Is :argue:

A 6 year old can not handle the discs careful enough.  Sorry.     You know how sensitive the discs are when you add the graphics.

If it was my kid, I would look at the microphones that have cards instead of discs.    Can't scratch a card.    They can surely ruin a lot of expensive karaoke discs real quick.

Good luck.

Well then you make a back up copy for home use keeping the original in tact & re-burn as necessary - according to everyone that backs up, no difference here & it's for home (personal) use.  The 6 year old uses the back up & if it gets ruined, the Dad re-burns it keeping the original safe!  No need for inferior sounding mic systems.

As an adult one is concerned with the audio quality. This is not one of the high priorities.  I have had 5-6 year olds sing at my shows. First they are learning to read.. They are learning a sense of beat and eye voice co-ordination. Thye are learning to open up and express themselves in front of a crowd which at that age is priceless... They are not that concerned with sounding like a star like vain adults.

I have seen many kids start out at various ages with home karaoke. My suggestion would be one of the Toyrus or Walley World If she shows an interest then buy better stuff as she progresses with her talent. Let her find her way and rate of learning dont expect her to sound like you think she should....If its for her she will know and she might be too young to know yet .....

My 5 year old knows how to handle a CD or DVD.

She can read a lot of the words of the children's songs.

Now, if I can only get her away from watching so much TV.

The karaoke discs are very delicate.   The tiniest little scratch or mark will scramble the words on the TV.    They are not like cds and dvds in that respect.

Music CD.......$15

DVD............ $20

Karaoke CD+G......$25-35

Scratched Karaoke CD+G............worthless.   :O
