Post subject:  The infamous Soundgarden & Alice In Chains disc

Okay, first of all I know this subject has been brought up several times, so please indulge me on this one.
Could someone that has them, please give me a track listing.
Does anyone know of anyone or anyplace that I might still find these disc.
Although I'm sure someone on Ebay has them, I've become somewhat frustrated with Ebay sellers as of late because of their outrageous shipping charges. You know the ones who charge you 8 to 10 bucks for standard shipping that only cost 1.35 actual to send.
And also Ebay has been bombarded with folks flooding the site with crap like SGB and Backstage, so it's really become annoying trying to sort through it all.
Anyway, if you have any info, I'd really appreciate it if you could pass it along.
Thanks in advance,

p.s.-yes I did a forum search and came up with certain post mentioning these items but not the full details.
Thanks again.

Well from what I gather, according to Karaoke Legend at one time Soundchoice produced a disc of each artist. But information is sparse at best. Apparently the artist did not give permission for the reproductions of their works and they had to be pulled.

I've never heard of a whole artist disc by them...

KJPro has a record of all the discs made by SC, in print and out of print! and I would have heard of such a disc! There are some rare ones out there with a song or two by one of those artists, but I'm guessing you know which ones those are. (ex. SC8148, etc.)

Best bet is to email BC/Studio Manager directly, or go ask at Sound Choice's  "BBoard"... they have a thread specifically called "Ask Soundchoice"

Good luck m'man!

Well see that's another thing, I have no idea if folks are talking about a whole disc or just songs on other disc.  But yeah next step was to see what was still out there and possibly just do a custom disc, rather than going to all the hit and miss of trying to find it elsewhere. I know that at most of the average Karaoke shows, music of this style may not be in big demand, but I would really like to have them, just for the sake of having them. I've actually got folks that come out each week just to see what kind of rabbit I'll pull out of the hat so to speak and some Soundgarden/AIC is exactly what would blow their socks off.
But thank you sir for the link, but you're right, if there was in fact a full disc of this stuff, I'm sure that most of the more experienced host here would have known about it.
Thanks again,
James

Yeah I love Alice In Chains. Couple months ago thought I could sing 'Man In The Box' at karaoke and gave it a shot cold turkey cause I thought I knew this song as I've sung along with the cd. It's a great song, and I think I could sing it, but one I would have to practice which I quickly found out as I was humbled by screwing it up. That doesn't happen much anymore where I blow the song in front of the crowd. What got me was a part 2/3's from the end that sounded a bit different musically compared to the words on the screen. That made me pause, and try and sing it wrong - which hosed things up. No biggy, it's only karaoke but I try and do a decent job and not just fall on my face - LOL. Fortunately everyone else realized the difficulty and others came up to sing it in group. With all of us it never sounded good or right either, but it was fun.

It's songs like that where you have to reach - that you learn to grow. It's like skiing or anything else. If you aren't falling and probably getting hurt you aren't learning and making progress.

Not sure which version this guy had. It is a club Jeffieoke frequents so perhaps Jeff can ask the guy what disk it is.

'Man in the Box' use to be one of my favorite tunes to jam with other bands.
When I lived in Atlanta, on my nights off, I would go around and listen to other bands, when they wanted me to set in with them, that was my song of choice. AIC was the hot item at the time, so everyone knew it. Hey it was better than doing 'Born to be Wild' for the billionth time. There was a time when Priest was the band to cover, so it was either 'Living After Midnight', 'You've Got Another Thing Coming' or on the rare occasion the 'Green Manalishi(spelling?)' which was a very humbling experience to say the least, that last note is a gonad puller. LOL

To the best of my knowledge Sound Choice NEVER had a complete disc of either Alice In Chains or Soundgarden (and I've been buying their discs ever since 1993).  They DID have several songs from these artists on assorted discs, which are probably all out of print.

Alice In Chains

"No Excuses" - SC8122
"Again" - SC8286"

Soundgarden

"Black Hole Sun" - SC8272
"Blow Up The Outside World" - SC8357
"Burden In My Hand" - SC8308
"Fell On Black Days" - SC8148
"Pretty Noose" - SC8295

If you're looking for more AIC, SBI (www. sbikaraoke.com) has quite a few of their songs. Although SBI is rather hit and miss as far as quality, their AIC songs ROCK.  They only sell custom CDGs and they are expensive (like almost $7 USD per song for a lot of their songs).

Unfortunately, both of these artists are BIG karaoke no-no's concerning licensing, which means US karaoke manus can forget about releasing songs from them LEGALLY anymore - unless there is a change of heart from those controlling the licensing.

I can attest to the quality on the AIC tunes from SBI - damn near original quality, search for Man In The Box in the Singers Showcase
http://www.singersshowcase.com/search.php, listen to the music of them all, mine was with the SBI tracks.
Good luck finding any of the SOundgarden songs anymore, most of the discs listed above are discontinued because of the Soundgarden songs.  8148 also had other Seattle bands that are no nos as well.  This is one of my favorite discs & it still gets used nightly.
There are a couple AIC tunes out from other manus, Amerising did a pretty crappy version of Man In The Box.   Top Tunes did a pretty good version of Would - about the only good recorded song on the entire disc - but musically it's the same as the SBI version so I think the lifted it from SBI.
