Well hopefully there are a few on here that have some experince with Video Editing. I am going to start the process of converting my onld VCR tapes to MPGs so I can use them at shows. I have done a couple, used a capture device, and changed the VCR to mpg files with great results. Now I want to do something more. I want to ut an OVERLAY with my logo, and with the Artist and song title on top of the video, much like MTV and the oter video channels do it. To have the artist info fade in and out on the start and end of the song, and have to logo overlayed through the entire song. I have accompliwhed this with Adobe Premier (demo) but don't want to spend $800 to do something so simple. Any suggestions on how to acomplish this at a cheaper price? |

If you are on a Mac, that can be all done with their "free" softwre iMovie. It's limited but it can be done. Their higher end movie editing software is Final Cut. Their express version is $99 and it's a lot more sophiscated than iMovie. For the Windows side, I have not used them all myself, but there are many movie editing software that will let you do it. Few that I can think of include: Ulead VideoStudio Cyberlink PowerDirector Pinnacle Studio Plus They all cost about $50 to $150 range. Also, Adobe has Premeire Element, which is feature limited version of full Premiere for about $99. Check them out. |

Thanks Eben, being new to the video sid of computing (PC computing that is), I have no clue any software out there. I am seriousl considering buying a Mac, just for video and picture editing. I have about 100 VHS Music Video tapes to "convert" to the PC, and countless tapes from the old camcorder. HMMMMM....MAC is sounding better and better for that purpose. BUt I will give the programs you mentioned a try. And for other, if you can think of anything else, let me know. |
