Just get any Plextor you like (probably 760 is the best at the moment) and put it into external USB enclosure. It is much cheaper solution than dedicated USB drives and works just as good.

I have the internal Plextor 716A inside a USB box like someone described above and it works great. Stick with Plextor, but call the Plextor HQ and make sure it can read and write CD+G. Not all of them can, there are some that only read them so beware.
If you have the right software, it's more important than the drive. I accomplish everything I need to with a Cyberdrive External USB 2.0 CDRW 48x16x48 that came with Nero for less than $25
I've been told, but I don't know, that some of the newer Plextor drives will not work
