Post subject:  Recovering Newbie?

Hello everyone, My name is Jim, or "EZ".  I'm a Newbie, and a Sagittarius.

I've posted a couple of times since February of this year.  Although I haven't posted too much, I've spent at least a hundred hours looking at all the threads and posts here.  This Forum has been my main source of info for putting together a system.  Thank you all very much for taking time to put all this info on here.

I've been singing karaoke for years, and have been thinking about starting up a KJ service of my own.  I guess I've decided to give it a go.  I'm almost done putting my system together (would have been done sooner, but my $4000 starting budget didn't quite cut it).  I'm waiting for a Plextor Burner to be delivered tomorrow, and then I'm gonna start ripping my cdg's to my hard drive.  I've got business cards ordered, and my best friend of many years has promised to help me promote (he is a sales rep for a big liquor distributor in the area, lots of bar contacts).

I was compelled to post tonight because "Isis" donated 25 points to me for an "Avatar".  First, THANK YOU ISIS!!!  Second, what the heck is an avatar?

Welcome to the insanity of it all EZ.  I think you'll enjoy this madhouse; just consider the source when you get answers to any questions you may have (review the top 20 posters thread).

Thanks for all of your replies and welcomes.  Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I've been swamped between my full time job and loading all these discs into my hard drive.  I realized last night that all of the discs that I entered manually have to be redone for my song book.  I entered the names , for example, as "Bryan Adams" instead of "Adams, Bryan".  I sobbed briefly.

I'm getting ready to start pounding the pavement and getting my name around to the local bars.  I am starting out with the Soundchoice Foundations 1 & 2, Bricks 1 thru 5, and I bought the entire Pop Hits Monthly collection from 10/95 thru 11/06.  I ordered the Sweet Georgia Brown 66 disc set to fill in some holes (I'm out of money, and it was cheap)  Once I get that set loaded (I'm thinking I'll get 400-500 songs that aren't duplicates) I should have around 5000 songs available.

I'll let you know how thing go, thanks again everyone for your replies and your help with my q's.
