I'm going to be hosting a halloween karaoke party at home and I'm looking for some ideas for some different karaoke based games that we could play.  One that I had in mind that I thought could be fun would be the "Who's line is it anyway's" three headed opera star where three people would sing a song where each person alternates singing one word at a time.  Does anyone else have any ideas for some other games?

Name that tune.     Make them guess the artist and the title and make them sing it.    Start the song with the screen blank.   Pause it after a few notes, if they don't get it, play a few more.    Leave the screen blank until they guess right and have to sing it.

You could take a large bowl and put folded slips of different songs.
Put fun songs in there like tv theme songs (Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch), Childrens songs(I'm a little tea pot), Monster Mash, My Ding a Ling,
I feel like a Virgin, I'm to sexy, YMCA etc....
People pick a song not knowing what it is and have to sing it.

Well, if there is a kitchen with a deep fat fryer nearby, "Bobbing for French Fries" has some built-in excitement to it!

I've tried google but didn't find much other than those like name that tune.  ideas hoping that this forum might come up with something a little different that could be fun with a small group of friends.  I have enjoyed some of the ideas posted and I'm looking forward to a few more ideas.  I have couple weeks to put it together.  So let's keep the ideas coming.  I'd even like to see a few rough ideas and see if we can refine it.

Have alot of props on hand hats wigs etc.   Have you ever tried to sing with your head in pantyhose?   Halloween karaoke is one of nights that form bonds forever and create lifetime memorys. Dont be formal just encourage all the frivolilty each act can be more awesome than the last...Karaoke rules do not apply but with the proper encouragement everybody contributes to the party

Most important rule of all DO NOT LET ANYBODY DRIVE HOME DRUNK!!! Just have fun....

Edit.....Is their anybody here I can sing in your panty hose??? LMAO  LMAO

You can have a little contest of sorts. Pick categories that are funny
like Best comedian Award, Most Animated Award, Sexiest Rendition Award, and Most creative  Performance. Then have everyone vote at the end of the night and give out
awards.

Also at the end of the night you can have the karaoke Sobriety Test. I do this for fun where I work. You play a song that is tough to get through when drinking like " Good Hearted Woman" and see who can make it to the end of the song without a mistake.
Childrens songs are fun to do this with because they are short and usually tongue tiers. Not to mention really funny when a full grown man who has been drinking sings
Peter Piper or Mary Had a Little lamb.  LMAO

Good Luck !!

Games that I have used I usually play on slower nights, but here are a couple anyhow.

-Songs from the box.  I have a box of props, wigs, hats, etc.  Singers turn in a song slip that says song from the box and then select the prop they want to use/wear.  I then select a song for them that matches the prop they picked.  For example a mullet wig might get you either Achy Breaky Heart, or some bad 80's hair metal depending on the singer.  Of course you have to know your singers a little bit to do this, and they have to be willing to trust you not to screw them too badly.  It's a lot of fun and can be very funny.  I have an uncle Sam hat that might get you yankee doodle or Living in America (think Apollo Creed from Rocky)

-Pick a page.  Over the microphone ask the bartender or a non singer to give you a number from 1 to whatever your songbook goes to.  Once you get the number, you announce that for anyone who wants to play, the next rotation will be featuring songs from page number whatever.  This is a great way to get people to try new stuff!

-The Alphabet Game.  Decide if you want to use artist or song titles.  Start with the letter 'A' and select a song that falls under that criteria.  I've actually had singers who have continued working through the alphabet on nights we WEREN'T playing the game just because it is kinda fun and cool to try.  Which, by the way, just gave me another great idea to get people coming back to my shows.

I think I'll start an Alphabet club.  I'll get singers to sign up and play along and once they finish the alphabet both ways (artist and title) I'll print them out a certificate or present them with a small plaque--I get a good deal at the local trophy shop on stuff like that because I always buy up their discontinued stock and other items they'd probably end up tossing out.  For my last contest I nice got trophies for 1-5th place for less than $30!

I think I'll go put something on my website about that right now!

I do the pick a number game too. "Scaryoke" I just have people yell out numbers
and then the person has to sing what ever it is. They have to make it through
half the song if they know it or not.
