We were having a few brews last night and a couple (Ive sang with them for years) asked what Id sell my system for. Would you take 5 grand?  Out of my love for them I said OK .....So now I will be just a singer again and maybe tour and come to some of the shows on here like Lon's and others.... Its like parting with a friend, lot of sweat and tears...Things work out for a purpose and I have been down many roads some good some bad but dont be surprised if some old man shows up at your show and knocks them dead LMAO

Edit:   I should have got 7 grand

When you are sitting there tired and half burned out what is the minimum amount you would take for your system?

I would take $20K, no less & if someone offered today, I might be willing to talk.  That would include my entire system with a couple working Peavey SP4's & 2 SP3 BW equipped for parts, extra floor monitors.  2 extra laser/cdg players (all Pioneer).  Computer w/rotation program - would need to take the fill music HD out as I would be keeping all my original cd's - but would leave the dj program in it & transfer the license.  All cdg's 75% Sound Choice (included 8125, 8148 and several other discontinued) - 840 total cdg's, approx 100 laser discs.

i've been asked to sell my system several times and the answer has always been (and will remain) no.  while it is not a huge source of income, it is still income and it's paid for except for replacing cables, discs etc which i consider to be minimal collateral.  the system itself may be worth about $7G including discs and all, but how about the money i'd lose by not having it?

the second thought about this question is that i have two systems...which one are they hypethetically asking to buy?

still, it's a fun question and a great topic, Karyoker.....much better than any topics I'VE started! :hi5:

so long as you havent signed anything that prevents you setting up in opposition within a certain distance and within a certain time frame why not go and set yourself up again?

LMAO Of course now you would know how to avoid any mistakes (mispent $) and could make a kicka$$ home system.

And I would play only those songs that customers provide. Here singers are buying the latest THM cd's for their home system...I put out thousands of dollars for cd's with muscic that I will never play....Now I know how to do it   LMAO

some new thoughts......God I love it....

Another Edit  And when the assholes get their (@$%&#!) together we will download at a show what we need for the next rotation for 99 cents a song..

they would eliminate  piracy in a heartbeat ...

I have over $50,000 invested in my system, much of which was research and the music. No way could I recoup that at all. To me, I have an incredible home system, and a fallback computer should one of my home ones die.

And I'd never get a download per track thing. I just don't trust them. One, you're on the net to get them (duh), which leaves you vulnerable, so you have to run antivirus and spyware tools. That means more resources at use than I would want. Two, I don't think those $.99 tracks are legal!

I have about 10-12K invested in my system and music. I had a guy just last night offer me 5K for it all, which is about what it is probably worth if I were to list it all(it is probably worth closer to 6K or so). I said no and offered him my old system for $800 if he wanted to use it as a base to start a karaoke night on his own. I also offered to work something out with him if he could get a karaoke night on his own to use my system and I'd take 40% of whatever price he negotiated and train him on how to use everything (I've known this guy for years and trust him). He said he'd think about it all but I am sure nothing will come of it.

HOWEVER, I think when I hang up the ol' mic, I will probably just sell my music along with possibly my older system and keep my primary system for myself. I think I could demand about 3-4K for my older system with the music (a little under 700 discs).

I have hooked up my main system to my home theater a few times and it is absolutely rediculous how good it sounds in that capasity, so I'd probably retire it to that use!!

Well its official now  He raised the money and picking it up tomorrow.. Electronic gear when 2 years old is worth about half but this stuff the jbl eons esp keep their resale value...  I was sort of burned out anyway now I can totally relax and turn into a singer again I could never do it when hosting I was more concerned with sound and such..

Its sad in a way and a relief in another way.. So unless I build another system I am no longer a karaoke host... Its been a good ride I hosted for 6-7 years but have sang a lot longer than that.. I am a firm believer in karma and destiny, things happen for a reason.. Maybe I was supposed to get around and visit some of the good folks shows on this forum... It would take awhile but I know they all would be above average and not the general run of the mill...

I do need something to keep this old mind and body going so dont be surprised if some old man walks up to you at your show and says hi I am karyoker then totally blows your crowd away LOL I  can do it guaranteed.... another fork in the road!!!!
