Well first off you don't NEED a sonic maximizer, all this is going to do is enhance certain frequencies, but it's not going to really work. What it enhances in the vocal range it's also going to enhance in the rest of the music as well pretty much cancelling out the effect. BBE are good units & can help systems, but they aren't miracle cures & are limitied as is any processor. What you NEED, is a small pa (small mixer, amp, speakers or mixer/amp & speakers or mixer & powered speakers) you can dedicate to karaoke. Singing through home stereo speakers don't cut because they aren't designed to reproduce live vocals. You could actually harm your speakers & possibly your amp/receiver over time. |

Ohhhh...If my memory serves me well, then I think you were suggested the Sonic maximizer. Is it true or I'm wrong ? So according to you, just waste the money for Sonic maximizer, since it doesn't help to improve the vocal sound ? I just bought a pair of powered speakers, JBL Eon P15; a MIDI DVD player; and I have a Vocopro digital mixer. Is there anything else should I need to improve or enhance the vocal sound for karaoke system ? Thank you for the advices....Have a nice day...Jim |

The sonic maximizer will bring some more brightness and clarity to the vocals. Lonman was saying above that you needed a PA first, though, which you have (but you didn't say that originally!!). All of the BBE Sonic Maximizers, no matter what the model, have the same exact processor with the same exact logorythm. The more expensive models then have add ons like stereo sound, compressors, limiters, feedback supression, etc.. I would just go with the BBE 362, which is $99 retail and can be found new on eBay for around $60-70. |

Yes I have in the past suggested the Sonic Maximizer for overall system, not just to cut vocals through, although it would work if you were running it strictly on the mics via the mixers insert points, however it is not generally needed for this is the rest of the system is ok. If you want to crispen & tighten up the overall mix, then yes a BBE would do the trick. But again, do not overdo it, it's a simple processor that could harm if set wrong. |
