Post subject:  CD+G formats

I downloaded audiograbber on my brand new HP 8309 laptop. Popped in a karaoke disc and much to my surprise :shock:my DVD drive (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA 4084N) ripped it right off. i CLICKED ON cd WENT DOWN TO "GRAB DCG TRACKS(KARAOKE) then went down to grab to cdg+compressed file and it ripped it off lightning fast . It saved the music file and the graffics file . Together they were about 3 megs in size. Then winamp automatically played them lyrics and all. My Question is.....whats the difference between that and converting them to mp3+g? Wont they still be about the same size?  Does it really have to be in MP3G format??

Thanks!

The terminology is confusing you.

MP3=COMPRESSED FILE

therfore mp3+g is compressed+.cdg file which = 1 .mp3 file and 1 .cdg file for each karaoke track

MAKE SENSE?

Now on a completly different note, you can turn the indiviul .mp3 and .cdg files into one .ZIP file if you want.  It save a little on space, and if you are using a hosting program, most will reconize the ZIPed files, un zip the 2 files to a temp folder, and play them.

BTW, make sure you ripped your karaoke discs to mp3 at a decent bitrate.  For home use 128kbit is accatable, but if you are a PRO, make sure to rip at leas at 192kbit or HIGHER.

Not sure of the question --But when ripping a CDG to your hardrive you if done correctly will always get (2) files - 1 mp3 for the MUSIC and 1 file for the Graphics
---This is  what I know to be MP3+g - Now if you ZIP them together you have just 1 zipped file ...does this help  :shock:

Yes it was confusing me. Cuz when you let the mouse sit over the music file it just says "winamp mdia file">  So I didnt know if it was mp3 or some other format.  I'm not a real computer genius.

And winamp does it all!  plays almost instantly, rotates, has plugins(pacemaker) for pitch control and last nightI set it all up on my TV and it worked great!   I even kept windows media player minamized for filler music and didnt lock up one time.  So for now I'm sold on winamp.

A month ago I did'nt know jack s#$% about pc karaoke but now if I already had all my discs transferred over to the hard drive I could do it tomorrow. This site is :dancin:  AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are a lot of help.   Thanks.

which plextor external dvd burner is best for this and for playing customers discs?

You actually convert your track to mp3+g. You winamp player recognise the mp3 file as winamp file because you set it that way or was set as your defualt player. Just congratulate yourself for doing it right the first time.
