The ChillIt, which we picked up at CES, keeps your beverages at a crisp 45 degrees F via a "cold plate." Or so it claims. In our rigorous real-world testing (I took it home and used it while playing World of Warcraft) the Chiller was less than impressive. Although the cold plate was cold to the touch, it failed to cool a warm drink or even keep a cold drink cold, in glass, plastic, or a metal can. But then, if your drink has time to warm up, you're probably drinking too slowly. Note: Some interns (apparently "let the intern test it" is a tradition at tech publications) have reported that the Chiller causes Windows problems because it draws too much power. I didn't have this problem. WoW pretty much maxes out my system's resources, so i thought maybe the ChillIt just didn't have a chance. But even now, when I'm doing relatively light work in my cubicle, all the Chiller does is make funny noises and fail to keep my Sprite cold. actually I like the mug that uses an ice insert in the middle to do the cooling, without diluting the drink. I have some of those frozen mugs that go in the freezer... love those, but after using them once, of course they're all thawed out! !

Sorry to be geeky but fundamental physics say why that device won't work yet the coffee warmer will work. It's all about the heat rising. Cool liquid will settle to the bottom where the plate is and already cool. That's why it won't keep it cool. However, coffee warmer, hot liquid will rise and cool liquid will go down, where there is the plate which is hot. It will continue to warm. Some engineer thought of this without thinking of basic thermodynamics. |

they are, and they work well. I even have a USB rocket shaped glitter light sitting next to my printer. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid ... DT&cpc=ALG I've even seen the usb DISCO lights out there! !

The link is for a Japan site, but instead of a cool plate, this will put the whole can in there! !
