I am toying with the idea of buying a pole mount for my LCD and mounting it about halfway up on my speaker stand. Has anyone ever seen this done??

As of right now, I have to put my amp rack on the right side of the stage in order to have something to put the LCD on. Mounting the LCD on my speaker stand (sub to main pole) on the right side of the stage would not only clean up the stage, but would also put the singer's eyes at about a 25 degree angle to the crowd as opposed to the 45 degree angle they are at now. It would also just look pretty cool.

Anyone do this?? Is having the LCD mounted on a pole connected to a sub going to cause any interference issues?? I have seen the posts for some homemade LCD stands, which would be option #2. I'm also still working on my bar owner letting me mount the screen above the audience front and center, but he's leary. Let me know what yall think!!

Speakers contain some very large/strong magnets....I know they cause problems with CRT TV's but not sure if so with LCD.

My main concern about putting an LCD on a speaker pole is the balance. I am not sure what stand is, mine barely stands well with my EONs on them. I am worried if I put LCD, it may tip over. As for interference, if you have powered speaker, I wouldn't worry much. The signal is pretty low to emit any radiant interference. As for the magnet Keith mentioned, they are usually fairly well shielded and LCD are not as immune to magnetic field as CRTs are.

If you are running power amp, then I would make sure the speaker cables are well shielded. I made my own stand for the LCD and it works great. Someone posted a LCD stand that's made from metal tube they have seen on ebay and that seems like a good solution as well. I personally like the LCD stand on it's own because the singer can face the audience and not near a pole for the speaker. Personal choice.

Perhasp you could do somthing like in the above link.  I would much rather have a seprate stand for the display, than adding it to the speaker stand.  If the speaker happen to fall, there goes your LCD too.  Seems safer to have a seperate stand.

How ironic...We were just talking to a KJ friend of our last night about the possibility of making an LCD stand.  We didn't know they already make them...

The one Twansenne is showing is like 7" screen only. It's too small for me. I made my own stand. You can see pictures on this thread. I like mine since I can put the monitor speaker right under it so it saves space.

My main concern would be  falling I dont even like cable dangling from a speaker stand let alone a monitor. Also there would be vibration from bass in the speaker stand..

Eben, Thanks for sharing your stand with us.  Now to see if I can get anywhere close to helping my friend duplicate it...

Yeah, the LCD stand above for the 7" LCD won't work, as I have a 19" LCD monitor that needs to be mounted with a VESA mounting plate.

I don't think the studiness of the stand is a problem, as this would be between my sub and my mains on a sub pole, not on a tripod speaker stand.

I'm not sure if a separate stand just for the LCD really cleans anything up, as it would take up almost as much floor space as my amp rack.

As for the wiring, there is already a video in wire running from that general location  back to my player anyway, so there is no added benefit there. I keep the wires that do cross the stage area bundled up pretty tight and the speaker cables wrapped around the poles, so someone would really have to try very very hard to trip on them.

I may just try the pole mounting thing once I have some spare $$$ laying around, and if it doesn't work then I'm just out about $100. Here are the kinds of things I was looking at:

Send me a PM with your info. I will be more than happy to share the parts list and how I made my stand. It was pretty easy to do.

OK, my original link was only to supply an idea.

How about this one.....
http://www.totalkaraoke.com/product.asp ... f_id=tv100

Then you could remove the rails, and tilt the bed of the stand almost verticle.  Then attach the LCD to the bed of the stand.  You can even remount the mic holders to still be able to work with it being vertical.  I am sure getting a plate to attack a LCD to that bed would be much cheaper than getting  a POLE mount.

You could use this flat wall mount....
http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcab ... Mount.html

Yeah it's a UK site, but I am sure there is something just a cheap on a US site.  It was the first one I could find

I've used that stand for years as a standard TV one... it won't go all the way 90 degrees the way you think...  But you could certainly set up a monitor to sit on it, and secure it to the bottom...
