does the free version of winamp NOT play regular cd's??????     Mineonly plays the first 60 seconds and then asks for a register and serial key!

Are you talking about the one to play cdg's off the cd? If so It is a demo not freeware but costs $24.95 to register.
The MP3+G plugin plays files off the computer and costs nothing for the full features.

You must have the CDG DISC player pluging installed.  Un-Install it, and install/enable the nullsoft cd plug-in, and all will be OK

in my experience the lite version of winamp will not play ordinary cds
But then I dont mind this as I hate the way winamp used to just take over the whole computer. At least nowadays it behaves itself
