Post subject:  Where do you find tracks with no background vocals?

Hi,

I’m new to this site and need to know where to look for tracks without background vocals.  I need tracks without vocals to compete in some of the talent shows in my area.  The Mid-South Fair talent show in Memphis does not allow any vocal utterance on the track you use at their show.  I can’t find a vendor who can remove the background vocals.  Any ideas?

In a related topic, any ideas where to find arrangements of medleys?  I hear people perform medleys from show tunes but I don’t know where to buy them.

Thanks for any help and assistance.

There isn't much.  If the song originally had backup singers, chances are - if it's a good manufacturer - that the back up vocals will be there.

What song are you looking for in particular?

Zoom karaoke makes some medley songs on most of their artist discs.

you can use a P2P network to get instrumental versions, but there would be copyright infringements if you were to recieve a monitary prize for winning a competetion.

Playbacks is the brand I use for instrumental only, it's by far the best recording you can find out there, nothing but acoustic instruments with sometime back vocals or with out, it always say on the disk.  Not sure it's available in the USA, it's from France but they often use musician from GB of orchestra from the USA.

Good luck!

The only suggestion I have would be to sing a song that was done by a solo artist.   One that never had background singers.    Not much, but it's better than nothing.    Most karaoke disc companies try to replicate the song as it was done on the radio.    So if it was originally done with background singers, they will be on the karaoke version.   Good Luck

If my memory serves me correct, Priddis used to be the only manufacturer that offered background vocals or no background vocals on their custom discs. Check their website to see if the song you want IS in their library. Give them a call for more details if they have the song you want.

It has been awhile since I have ordered a custom disc from them.

Hope this helps.

even Priddis changed their stance on no background vocalists...

and now they're no longer making karaoke products... they were the first of the karaoke manus to stop manufacturing.

Ironic, that the reason they started was for situations JUST like this one!

Prddis' music wasn't all that great either. I definitely am not missing them!

Thanks for the information.  These contest may need to change thier rules if noone is making the tracks.  Again, thanks.

I know choirs have a source of music that has no vocals as they are their own background music.  I used to get gospel music only tracks from the local christian book store.
