Go read this: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/09/03 ... _software/ I always knew it was possible for a backdoor virus to listen in or watch thru what you thought was a disabled device, then pack up the data and ship it back to the virus guy....It's a simple matter for hidden software to activate devices in the background without you clicking anything, or seeing anything. It seems more and more that spyware and viruses are no longer tools for crooks. Sony tried it recently, and so has Microsoft....Now Google is considering it. Did you know that the most popular free firewall Zonealarm was recently bought out by a company(Comverse) in a foreign nation that is known to be the most prolific at spying on the US?.... Yep, and now Comverse exec is beeing sought for conspiracy and fraud....How would you like to own a firewall company and be able to use it to allow millions of computers wide open access to your evedropping? http://www.newsday.com/business/ny-bzfu ... ness-print Kinda makes you wonder just how far things will go before folks wake up, huh? Here is a four part series broadcast by Fox news that throws more light on the subject: http://www.informationclearinghouse.inf ... le6480.htm Am I a tin-hat nut?....Nope, but I tend to pay attention. |

Thanks for the heads up. It is a reminder we all need from time to time. I have always been one to re-type my passwords rather than storing them, on the theory that if it isn't stored on my PC it cannot be gotten off my PC. Great theory until I discovered a trojan horse on my PC that was tracking every keystroke I made. I cannot tell you how many dollars my company has spent on virus protection. I have done my fair share of overnighters where my I.T. group just didn't get to leave until we had the virus under control at all 250 locations across the country. The same dangers apply to home PCs. |

Yep Keith, I always do that. Some people don't realize that when they boot up their systems their cam software and cam automatically is on their startup menu and is on. It must be turned off each time they boot up, or removed from autostart |

If I remember right it was a company in Isreal that bought zone alarm and put in a phone home which the geeks spotted pretty quick Word spread quick on forums such as amazingtechs and people started dumping it. Then some other free ones started charging right away. Supposedly they got rid of it.. The one I dont trust is microsoft Get xp Antispy and disable all of microsofts phone home like error reporting I found out awhile ago the live messenger wont work on win2k Why? Dont allow any program to phone home like auto updates. It ammazes me most software you install now the first thing it wants to do is connect to the internet. Using msconfig disable all those that need to start up until youwnt them.. cntrl alt del nd look at th processes running If one is not reconized google it....When you downlosd and install a proggie to try it after install see if it puts a new process in If you ae unsure join amazingtechs read the read this first to learn how to download and run hijack this first... I use zone and the google tool bar reluctantly but the one I dont trust is gates and Im beginning to doubt Fire Fox.. And we havnt even discussed hidden cameras yet.. |

Just my own theory. I think the big Government VS. Microsoft legal dealy was about Microsoft inventing something the government wanted. Either they wanted it to be kept secret or they wanted it stopped. Microsoft didn't want to give it to them, so the government gave it to Microsoft. :O  I suspect it was something to do with your computer when it was shut off. Like the mentioned backdoor thingy. You would be sleeping and they would be seeking information from your computer, unknown to you. Without it being on. Ahhhh but then again, I don't know anything. But walk backwards and watch your backdoor. |

Hey Karyoker, Go to Microsoft home page and enter 'Amdocs' in their search window...Then read all about how they have joined forces recently with Amdocs. Then in same search window enter "Comverse" and you will see the same. Microsoft is in bed with both of them. Amdocs, and Amdocs owned Comverse are under investigation for spying against our government, yet we still use them to monitor every phone call made in this country....for 'billing purposes'. Their Comverse is the company that holds the contract to provide and maintain goverment approved phone tapping equipment installed on all our phone exchanges. We pay the fox to watch the hen house. Now our FBI is seeking Kobi Alexander of Comverse for fraud and conspiracy associated with the stock market.....DUH, it's rather apparent he abused the phone records and tapping to get insider info on stock trades! |

Right after 911 I was messing around with the satellite photos on the net The popup notification was turned on for zone alarm I saw a link for the pentagon and clicked on it. All of a sudden I had about a dozen popups It was going nuts... They will be putting remote smoke detectors in the bars next... Dont use unsealed suppositorys If your remote control garage door is going up and down on its own you are prob under survielance. |
