Oredering microphones recently I wound up with 2 SM58s and two Sennheiser e845s. I will need to sell two but I'm not sure which I should keep.

1 of each!  Or keep the one that sounds the best to you!  If it's for a show, i'd keep one of each.

I'd keep them all if you don't need the money.  you may only use two mics today but later on you may want to add mics.

Spike two of them on the floor and pretend you're at Bigdog's karaoke.   LMAO

Only recently started using a Sennheiser, but have used Shure for over 30 years and while the Sennheiser is a good mic, you can't beat a Shure for dependability and durability. I'd keep them all if I were you, or at least one of each. Put you can put it to the Maninblack test. Slam one of each on the stage and see which one keeps on working like a charm. Sure you can bust a Shure, but you gotta try real dayumed hard.

One would HAVE to pretend!  No one knows WHERE BigDog is!

Keep all the mics.

That's one of the things I was hoping to find out from you guys. Someday they might be exposed to some abuse.

I really do hope I can keep them all. The base effect is stronger on the Sennheiser and it throws some singers way off.

Then you keep the bass heavy singers on the SHure.  As far as durability, the Shure will probably last longer in dropped situations.  Both are good mics though.

I have had my Shure SM58 for several years... you can't go wrong with that one...

It looks like we are going to keep both sets of mics. This works well for me because the SM58s have a cleaner crisper sound good for some types of vocals while the Sennheisers have a darker richer sound better for other types.

Shure has been great for me.  And durable.  While it is true, different singers have found different mics to be better suited to their voice; for karaoke, I would opt for the studier mic.  The mic sound characteristics that you speak of when needed, can be adjusted with a good mixer.  MACKIE! LOL

Good point Kellyoke, that's what I'm here to learn.

I use both but I think the 58 will outlive any mic on the market! I mean you run over a 58 with a train and it will still work!  Also as many times as my singers have dropped them.....no doubt the 58 will last!
