I just Bougt this VocoPro DA-3700 PRO http://www.dbkaraoke.com/equipment/prod ... D=AMVP3700 and two cheap Wireless Microphone name Shure, just just wonder what is the best setup for the mixer to get a nice and balance sound when u sing!! OKIE DOKIE, here's what you need to do: #1: On the channel that you plug your mic receiver into, set the LOW knob to 9 o'clock. Set both the Mid and High knobs to about 2 o'clock. Turn the echo and and volume all the way off for now and the balance to 12 o'clock. In the ECHO section, put everything at 12 o'clock. In the MUSIC section, I would put the volume and balance at 12 o'clock and the Low, Mid, and High at about 1 o'clock. #2: Play some karoake music through your mixer and place the master volume of the music at the level you would normally play it when you would normally sing. #3: The gain on your mic is basically like a floodgate that lets the sound you are inputting into the mic continue travelling along the signal chain to your mixer. It is often mistaken for VOLUME, but it works a bit different. It is basically the amount of PRE-MIXER amplification your voice is going to receive before it reaches the mixer. When you cranked it up and the peak on your mixer was lighting, that is because you were giving the mixer more input from the mic than it could handle, and you were about to clip one or all of the components in your system, which is VERY BAD!! If you can't remember where the screw was originally, do this: You now have your music volume set to the level where you would normally sing. Put the volume level on your mic channel at about 12 o'clock and leave it. Pump down the GAIN on the pic by turning down that screw until your normal singing volume mixes well with the music volume you have already tuned in. #4: With your music playing and you singing, SLOWLY turn up the echo knob until you BARELY hear the echo. Vocal effects should always be set to the point where you don't notice they are there unless you are really listening for them, i.e., you wouldn't notice them unless they are gone. You should now NEVER touch the knobs you have set on the mic channel except to slightly tweek them if necessary. The second you start messing around with multiple levels, you'll never get them back to where you need them. The mix levels are set, now you should be able to control everything you need to with only the master volume controls. That should get you started and get you to the point where you can tweak it yourself. Really the only key to mixing is knowing what each knob actually does to your overall mix then being able to hear the change when you tweek it. If you need to know what anything actually does, or if you find your mix is missing something after you dial in all of these settings, let us know and we can direct you from there... |

Thanks Topher!! That helped me a lot and I don't even have a mixing board. You made it sound so easy I want to go buy one now.... |

People who have never used a mixing board are intimidated by all of the knobs and switches, but in reality it is a very simple interface. On my mixer, for example, there are 16 channels with about 14 variables you can change per channel, then a few more little bells and whistles in the main section of the mixer for a total of around 230 individual settings IF you are using all of the channels. If some cute little girl comes up to me and asks me about the mixer, I act like I am the most technically savy cat in the world, but if someone honestly wants to know, I always tell them that there are only about 8 knobs/sliders in the channel section (Gain, EQ, effects level, volume, PAN) and about 4 knobs/slider in the mixer section (main volume, monitor volume, effects volume, effect selection) that I actually use, then I just tell them what each of them do and they are always like, "Well that's pretty simple!!" And it really is as far as the mixer itself goes. Now the one thing you can NOT easily learn about mixing music is teaching your ear to hear a good mix, and unfortunately each mix is taylored specifically to the room you are in and even tweeked slightly for each song and singer, so having that good ear is a big part of it!! |

PLus if you are running 8 channels or 50 channels, once you learn 1 strip, the rest of the channels are the same - most of the time. |
