Using a Bbe during live or band situation is not effective in many cases. However if you are playing old recordings and know how to use one to tailor for room acoustics they are an absolute necessity.

I tire of these posts "Well I tried one once and it totally screwed up the sound"

That's nothing new, i've stated that for years.  If your system is comprised of quality components, proper power ratings & eq'd properly, you aren't going to need a BBE.  However most systems are not set up properly & less than adequate & this is where the Sonic Maximizer can help.  Yes I have one in my system as well, but most of the time it is bypassed - I kick it in on some of the older Pioneer discs & lesser quality discs that have no dynamics to them.

this is the exact same message i got... "decent quality speaker/component will get less benefit from BBE..." most of them do live no wonder i also found most of them dislike BBE...

They are nice in the studio though, you can really get the vocals to cut through & also clean up & enhance some older recordings as well.

Use a Lonman maximizer.    Spend the money needed to buy a quality system.

Money is the only good sound "maximizer."

No, Sonic Maximizers DO have their place.  What lots of people think is quality, more than likely is just entry level or basic equipment - so quality is subjective to someones own thoughts & what their budget allows.  Most people don't have the means to pick up a $20K system, most people start off basic & grow.

I agree -  I had the BBE in my mix months ago and found it very piercing
and not very pleasant sounding. NO MATTER WHAT I DID WITH THE SETTINGS OR MY MIXER EQ

It definately brought out  the clarity of the highs ..but I found it TOO MUCH and ended up removing it and selling it.  But I guess it does have it place in certain set ups.
