Had over a 1/4 tank siphoned from my car at some point over this past weekend.
Obviously the siphoning has begun around here. At first I questioned whether or not I used more gas than I thought, figuring that was a possibility. What confirmed the fact that gas had actually been siphoned, is that I always screw the gas cap on quite tightly... when I opened the cover on the car however, the gas cap wasn't even screwed on, it was just resting on the opening not even screwed back on..I NEVER do that...

Steven ~ I was wondering when people would start doing that bit of crime. I hope people don't start doing actual damage to cars with locked gas caps just to get at the gas.

A couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd had about 1/2 tank siphoned out of my tank. I always set the trip meter when I fill up. Turns out my gas gauge is on the fritz. I think I would rather have lost the gas. The thing is driving me crazy. And I do not need any help in that area.
Now when it says I have a half tank, it means I have nothing. Kind of like my bank account.

I'm glad that my gas cap doesn't lock. I prefer the siphon method to the more creative methods that have been used.

I like the exploding gas cap. Next time those miscreants try to suck your gas, they will be eating lunch with Beezelebub, Shadrack and Imbednigo.

I'm still driving my 1994 chevy astro ext. To open the gas cap door you need to be inside the van. Are you saying i should add a locking gas cap?
Whats next? a brinks gas tank? DAMN!!
I just spent 60 bucks to bring my tank from 1/4 to full.
Somehow a stray "Gosh" showed up in my post, Must be an internet virus, Gosh gee willikers !! I'm gosh darn fedup with these Gosh nasty computer viruses.
Have a gosh day.

No need if you have the latch inside the car of course. The late 90's Dodge Concorde doesn't, yet alot of the foreign car's do have such an interior release latch..

Price here in dallas, tx today is running between 2.79 and 2.89 per gallon....
I have an interior latch for my gas cap, But I was thinking about getting a locking one anyway...cause it may start coming to breaking windows to get your gas...Heck my deductible is only $50.00 for a broken window..It cost more than that for a full tank of gas...

Not sure BJC, yet I wouldn't put much past a few.... You know what I can't figure out though ? Why aren't airfare's affected by this supposed "Gas price hike" ? Airfare is still the same (at least in my area), wouldn't you think that would be affected as well ?

Just this past week Southwest Airlines raised their fares by 25.00 per flight..They said it was due to the increased fuel prices... I did see a story on our local news about Southwest airlines about 6 to 9 months ago that addressed the flight prices/Gas prices. Southwest said that they buy their fuel years in advance so that they will not be affected by prices if they jump up like they have...I am not sure about other airlines, it seems that the big ones would do the same...
But I do admit when looking for flights to Seattle recently the prices have been pretty steady at around 300.00 RT. A couple of years ago I could get the same flights for around 200.00 RT
