I want to get a lot of tunes subbed and my favs are mostly metal. Would this cause too many headaches. I promise some will be softer. Just realized I called Metal a style instead of genre. I'm gonna hear about that one. |

I can hear it just as well with earplugs under the headphones Chuck, so no problemo! |

Sorry Chuck, I INTENDED on posting this in here. I got confused and PM'd it to you... FROM PM.. "metal" Rock and metal, Nu metal, "guitar metal" traditionally when it came about, TODAY cover a vast area... Some is fast aggressive violent, other types are not... Like "Rock" "Metal" has become an ambiguous term that's taken many terms... I suppose "It depends" is the best answer I can think of... What metal meant to me in the 70's, IS not metal today for many... Hard Rock is another ambiguous term. You'd have to define "metal" that you are speaking of to get an answer. Just a ten year difference between us, already meant an evolution in "metal" styles. Today's metal, I'm just not familiar with.. I don't know what it is unless it's retro-metal.. Term's such as "shred", even "fusion", depend on certain aspects.. Like chemistry, the stability, or volatility of your substance depends on what you are mixing.. |

Good points. A lot of the newer stuff is beyound me. I would have certainly enjoyed it had it come out when I was in my teens or shortly there after. Nothing against newer stuff at all, some of it is just too hard for me. I guess I was thinking of metal from the 70's to the 90's. I know, that's still a broad area, but it was my favorite time for metal and other heavy stuff. |

Personally in the "Classic Metal" days you speak of, I didn't like the vocals, I thought there were some excellent guitarists, and drummers in that genre however. Than a form of Dominant metal came along, than alternative metal/nu-metal..... and now I don't know how many other terms the genre has taken... It's too much for me... but this is JUST HOW I FEEL..... Even when I was in my mid-teens I HATED iron butterfly, and alot of Sabbath... I always liked more melodically based music... Not necessarily fast. loud and hard... but GOOD (IMO) melodic and LOUD.. Certain styles were considered "Head" music... You didn't listen to them sober... Of course Pink Floyd was also huge on that list.. and that wasn't metal.. Richie Blackmore was always I highly respected metal guitarist, as was Tony Iommi |

Most of the vocalists I listend to in the era were very dissapointing. It was what gave me the misguided idea that I had a chance as a singer. Many of them were just fortunate enought to be at the right place at the right time, including the many who were just in the right band.

I used to sing some very hard to reach vocals. As a second tenor, I should have tried country and learned to play something besides drums. |

In all fairness, I might be misrepresenting myself in this catagory. The hardest music I enjoy is Rob Zombie, and still I ony have on of his CDs. |

After I submit a good country tune I'm gonna do Hell Bent For Leather by Judas Priest. Good Stuff. Metal with a Rock'n'Roll rythm. That will be a trip to sub He Stopped Loving Her Today then some super hard heavy metal. I might do some White Zombie later. Thunder Kiss '65. It has a certain place in my heart because '65 was the year I was born, puts me in the mind of fairies. |

Hi Chuck, I have subbed a few Heavy Metal songs in the past with no problem, but I normally pick the slow non-shouting ones. In fact I still have one I subbed a few days ago in my folder by Iron Maiden called "Journeyman" Maybe you know this song ! Yes let's have some Metal and I am working on another Iron Maiden to sing later on ! Cheers, Peter |
