I recently purchased a PC. I have 640Mb of Ram, with an 80GB Harddrive. I want to be able to use my PC to record myself to CD. Now since this is all new to me, I can walk into a stor and "Ask" what should I buy. But We All Know How That Goes.....Can someone please tell me what "Starter" Pakage I should really buy, so I can get My Groove On ??.............Please.... Thank you all for your time re; this matter. Sing On!!!!!

A mic and a recording software is all you need for a start. |

Great thank you, I like to sing big band, Tony, Frank, etc.....Is there any particuilar mics, I should be shopping around for?? Thank you. |

those songs are probably best done by pocket songs. Usually I wouldn't reckomend Pockets songs but they do a great job on their big band and broadway stuff. |

Wow thanks for the links Jian, I can't believe it's free. I am reviewing all. If you don't mind, can you please tell me how to hook up a mic to my PC?? If you do not have the time to explain, its okay. Im gonna have to go to Guitar Center to get the mic there so I can ask one of them. But I appreciate it. Im sorry for being such a Newbie. Once again many thanks!!! OOOpss, now that I think about it, you mentioned tutortial, so I better check that out, thanks. |

Oh boy, don't I feel dumb.......I asked you if you can please explain how to hook up a mic to the PC and I checked out the Muscians link and there was the answer.......

Your mic will have a 1/4" jack and you will need an adopter that will have a 1/8" plug, like this: http://www.radioshack.com/search/index. ... Id=2032058 With that you will be plug it to the 'mic in' of your sound card. The hole have a picture of the mic so you will not miss it. And buy a pair of hand phone while you are at GC, You will need it to listen to the backing track while you sing and record your vox. You will not get a good result if you listen to the backing from the speaker when you are recording. What happen is the backing music will bleed to your mic. |
