Key Control

(digital key control, pitch control, key changer) - Raises or lowers all the notes to help you sing in your range. Digital key change effects only the pitch, not the tempo

My question is how much key change am I getting? With my RSQ
player I think I get a half step. With my Cavs Unit I think I'm getting a quarter step -
not sure.

The Numark is just a pitch control - it will speed up or slow down the music to change the key.  A digital key changer is much more preferred in karaoke as it leaves the music speed alone & changes the key up/down digitally.

I have that player and I love it!! As far as a rackmount CDG player goes, that thing is a tank and has better tracking and lower seek times than even the revered JVC 303 3-tray (which I previously used).

Most singers won't ask you to change the key more than one or two steps, and while the Numark does speed up or slow down the tempo to create this effect, one or two steps does not change the tempo enough to even be noticable, ESPECIALLY to drunken karaoke singers.

If you are specifically looking for a CDG player to put in a rackmount system, I highly recommend the Numark 25G. Otherwise, go with the old industry standard JVC 303/RSQ 333.
