I find it to be a wonderful dialoge between Singers who are discussing their artform at the very highest level  :worship:

Topics discussed that I found interesting are:

The "mystery" of vibrato

Singing from the diaphram

and (don't remember who said it, but)

"Singing is speaking at a different pitch"

Would love to hear comments on these topics or any others from the Singers Forum

I just flew back from there and boy are my arms tired. <rimshot>

I am enjoying the conversation on these topics. it could have saved me a lot of time had the internet existed when I was a wee lad. :D

I drop in now and then, but it doesn't seem like people go in there very often. I feel
like I'm all alone. Boo Hoo

My goal is to have an area where serious artists of ANY type, can discuss area's of aesthetics maturely... Offer back and forth dialogue about ANY aspect of music in a non-confrontational matter.. and those that wish for Critiques, KNOW what the term means.. while those offering them use the tact that comes with being mature, and having SOME knowledge of what Critique is truly for... HELPING another individual..
Just a mutually beneficial thread, so some of us don't end up losing site of WHY we joined such a forum, crashing burning, and (quiting) in time as a result of issues that never should've been introduced ruining the super-objective..

If we want the decent serious musicians to chat,  I feel it's important to have something they can chat about.. That isn't just potentially volitile personal stuff...

JMO..

I feel a venue like that would be better as a separate forum, or club people need to join, but that's up to KS... There's more to music and exchanging than the current nasty undercurrent that exists in SS

Maybe we can ask Phil if he could create a membership for a critquing group where mambers can post to have songs critqued by other members to avoid the bashing. Membership can be revoked I hope. :D

I know he's a very busy person but if it sounds as good to others as it does to me...

Either that, or it's finally time for me to get off my $%#, and form a board for artists... I shouldn't be spending so much of my time playing in chat areas... WE ALL end up getting into some type of problem in time in such areas... or feeling alienated...

HEHEHE,,, I wonder If I could get Phill to run a bboard for me free of charge too..AHAHAHAHAHA

international ALL ages..  ( I want nothing to do with the Yahoo type groups however), I'd like an actual bboard.. something with a nice layout.. but also a place where I don't have to moderate my friends and myself... THIS get's to be a huge problem.. (It's also not safe for me to be conversing in general chatter areas in this horrid heat) LMAO

Sorry for getting Off-topic... Yep, visit the Singer's Forum... It's why alot of us joined, isn't it ?

Just wear a tough hyde, if you get involved in SS.. It's a tough audience collectively. I wouldn't perform for it.

I'm cool, I got a better helmet just in case. The one I wore the other day got caught in the cup holder on my computer. It was a mess. :D

It's a grand idea but I believe several folks have been a little "uneasy" participating in things when it becomes "too technical".  As one objective always is to educate ourselves in becoming better musicians, it might be best to take a soft approach to some subjects ("a little at a time") rather than "laying out the works" which, understandably could be intimidating for a layperson, who, even though blessed with talent and a good voice, may be somewhat intimidated by.  An anology of this is why I suck at math....while the teacher was revving on up to geometry in the curriculum, I was still struggling with algebra, so therefore I just gave up on ever thinking I could become proficient in math--and I still am not. (PS: I still can add up simple sums like 4 + 4 if it's okay to answer in a ballpark figure!)

well said Michael!  -- and right on target for how I missed the mark with my opening
I'll do better next time

And may I say that I'm glad so many of the authors of the Singers Forum were willing to leave the Ivy Halls and come on over to play in the High School gym

Yes, a little at a time is exactly what I'm looking for -- and I hope this thread at least lets people know what awesome resources you've been laying down over there

Awakens :D

Addendum: why would you want more math than what it takes to do your art?   IMO  you've got all your bases and ballpark figures already covered extremely well.

I have problem listening to songs at SS. It will load, buffer of 30 sec, play and stop after 3 sec. and then buffer for 15 sec then play for 5 sec. and so on.
I just don't enjoy listening to songs thay way .
Onces in a while I may be lucky; the song stops only 3x during play.

You might try cleaning your temp file cache or I sometime have to switch off my antivirus software as well pop-up-blocker to get things to load right -- other than that you may want to do a technical post to Phil -- I did one a few days ago on an issue I was having and had an answer by the next mornig

I did that and it still don't work well enough for a good listen. I have little problem with other sites.

Have you sent a tech post to Phil to see what he says?  There may be a tweek that neither one of knows about that will fix it -- let me know

PS Your thread is AWESOME -- most popular on the forum now

I think you could teach all of us a thing or 2 about how to kick-off a great topic

Awakens :hi5:  :dancin:

I tried to sing into a diaphram once. It had no musical properties though. It seems to just be another piece of plastic. But it was nice in there as I remember.  She probably knew the "mystery of the vibrator" too. I'm just not sure!
