GREETINGS & SALUTATIONS FROM SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!

I've been a KJ/Karaoke System/Entertainment person out here on the beach for a couple of years. Just switched the show to a 100% digital format in 2006 - still hammering out the ticks and glitches, but so far, so good.

For lack of a mentor, I'm completely self-taught. (Translation: I don't know squat! It's all smoke and mirrors up there!) But the bar seems to enjoy the show, so I continue to try to look like I know what I'm doing every night while stumbling about in the fog...

I look forward to bending the ears of fellow gluttons for punishment who, like myself, made a conscious decision to spend their nights smiling through drunken arias, wanna-be-rock-stars, cheap gossip and bad liquor for the least amount of money possible!

Hi carperubem, welcome to the forum. I'm just a singer at karaoke bars so can't offer any tec advice. I know the KJ can't set the mood because the singers do all the musical choosing but my favorite KJs trys their best to be part of the entertainment with props, interaction and good cheer. You got this far and I'm sure you will be great. - Chris

I have fun with them, fer sher. I'm up in the booth dancing and singing along and intermittently "WHOOHOO"ing... Folks tend to perform best when they have a cheerleader! And if they sound better, they'll want to do it again. I get everybody going by acting like a complete nut - hehe!
