I would look into purchasing one from www.mtu.com as theirs are certified to read and write the cdg subcodes. |

Most Plextors will be fine, but MTU has a list of all the burners that will do what your asking. |

ANY of the 900 series won't burn. You might get them to read... it's a hardware limitation from the Plextor manufacturer, based on the complaints from the karaoke manufacturers! You can also get some just sweet deals on Ebay on OLDER plextor burners. I just bought nine on there, some for as low as $10!! ya can't beat that with a stick! |

When I spoke with them the suggested the Plextor-760A. I received it today and it does exactly what I want. I'm using the 80 minute CDs and I copied roughly 20 songs on each. Now I don't have to have a suite case of CDs with me. Plus now I can make copies of my originals. Jackson Thanks a Lot |

Jackson Thanks a Lot I just got mine for my rackmount system I am building and I really love this drive as well. It says it only reads CD+G format and I have not tried to write anything on it yet but using MTU Hoster, it rips CDs at a record pace. Plus, it's a DVD writer too I can use it for other purposes. Not too bad at $120 at local Fry's. |

you're right, i was surprised just how fast it copied the songs. i made a custom disk with about twenty of the songs that i sing. now i wont have to flip through my cdg folder searching for cds anymore. Jackson |

hi there. I just would like to ask a question along the same lines if i may, and it is this: Q - How do I copy my karaoke discs onto my hard drive to create a library / database that I can then use to create and burn my own custom discs? I have many discs that I only ever use 1 or 2 songs from and would like to use my pc to store all my tracks onto in order to select the songs I use and burn them to my own disc. Thereby cutting down the amount of discs I need to carry. I have managed to copy them onto my hard drive but only the music is stored. Do I need any special software that will copy / rip the tracks into a library? and will I need any special software to make up my own discs? The writers i have on my pc at present are capable of reading and wrighting CD-G discs, howver the graphics part is lost when i copy onto my hard drive. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me Damian Illisuon is but yet another reality..... |

This has been covered in other threads, Damian, but basically, you need the software and HARDWARE that will read the cdg subcode. Not all burners will do it, although Powerkaraoke sells software that supposedly works with MOST burners. I like Audiograbber (I use version 1.82), so I can rip directly to a compressed format or to .bin. Another good one is CDRWIN, which is what I use to BURN the copied tracks. Go to http://www.goldenhawk.com to read about cdrwin and the burners they support, and http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ for Audiograbber. These are NOT the only programs out there that do it, but they're what I found that works the best. |

just figured this one out myself damien. audiograbber is the way to go, and Echo explained how it works. tried other programs, but they were tedious or I couldn't get them to work. check out this thread, Echo helped me out alot. Also consider downloading KARAFUN from the karafun website. It is really good and easy and FREE! http://www.karaoke-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=7381 |
