I just finished putting together a system to set doing karaoke shows. Still ripping all the damn cd's i bought though.. Talk about time comsuming!! I'm going with a computer setup for a few reason. 1. I refuse to take my original cds to bar so they can get all scratched up. 2. Space saving (esp when i have over 2000 music/karaoke cds). and 3. It gives my dj much more control over the show. All my karaoke will be in .zip format when i am finished. Right now i have been trying out a program called Swift Ultralite to play karaoke .zip files. I like the program but i'm not big on the sound i get from my reg. audio mp3's. Also Winamp seems to be more funtional. I'm curious to find out what programs everyone uses and the likes/dislikes of them. So what do you think is the best. Remember it has to be able to play karaoke .zip files. Also i need a program that will play cd+g cds from a cd rom. I have a newer Plextor which is rated to play and rip cd+g cds. Just don't know of a good program that will play them. Be nice to find a good player that will play .zip and cd+g cds from cd rom. What about plugin's for wimamp??? Think that does it for the questions right now. I do have a general comment to make. Does anyone else feel like they get ripped off buying Sound Choice cds. Now, don't get me wrong, they sound amazing. But why do I have to pay for the same song 3 times (or even more) within the same series. Sometimes they put the same song within 20 cd releases. I have bought around 500 new/used Sound Choice Spotlight series cds. And i figure they owe me like 20 cds or more. Do the math at $20 a cd. (now i bought a lot used but still) That's $400 i figure they owe me. Oh well, such is life !! |

It's called marketing! They have to go with the masses & sometimes they will do a regular Spotlight disc, then they may do a greatest hits disc which will most likely contain songs that were already released - but just the most requested or best selling songs & the they may do a theme or full artist disc which may contain some of the same songs already released. I personally can see their strategy, don't necessarily like it myself, but it's business. There are other brands out there that do the same type of thing as well - Sound Choice gets picked on more because more people buy them. Obviously the "monthly" series discs won't contain any dups because they are going month to month with current music only. |

Yeah i hear ya.. I have been reading the forums and AutoKDJ sounds like a great option for me. However, i can't get it to play the .zip file. If I unzip it into .mp3/.cdg and import both into winamp it works perfect. In .zip format the visual screen opens but it doesn't do anything. Where am i going wrong. Says AutoKDJ will play a .zip file. |
