I've got this little yellow finch that thinks he's a wood (@$%&#!). I
sit here on the computer and he pecks at the window next to me.
Is this bird mentally challenged or what. He's awefully cute, but annoying.
He doesn't know who is messing with. I'll make bird burgers tonight if he
doesn't stop it!

Refereing to Kappy's comment, I am very happy for you Babs and glad to hear about it.

I remember when I was in the Navy. I was a seaman recruit for a while. When I was advanced to the next pay grade I made the mistake of telling a friend in the National Guard that I finally made seaman.

He didn't let me forget that for a while.

Actually Bab's.  Originally I was going to comment on how cute I thought that was, I'm a bird lover.... Yet when I was about to post, I saw where this thread was going ..  What I originally wanted to post would've been pulled (no pun intended)...

Aren't there species of woodpecker that are small with alot of yellow, also maybe birds in the woodpecker family, that aren't specifically woodpeckers, but make that type sound when eating insects, or trying to get at something ?  Are you shure that's a finch ? We have small things with yellow crests, or hoods.. that've migrated north because of the warmer temps... they stand on the sides of buildings and peck, but that aren't woodpeckers.. At least I don't think.  I know nothing about wild birds
