I just purchased a CDG with great mariachi music. Problem is that all songs have a guide tone which plays the melody in the background. It's not very loud but it's distracting and does get in the way. Does anybody know how to get rid of it? I loaded the CD+G with audiograbber to my PC. I also have winamp and audacity. I do need to change keys on some songs anyway and copy the wav file back to CD (no graphics). Thanks in advance. BTW, I also have MTU's keywrite for changing keys. |

The guide tone as you call it, is actually the lead. Those are the notes the singer is suppose to sing. I don't know of a way to take them out. If they are singing it right, it shouldn't be a noticeable problem. |

I have never used it for such but have heard it could be done from MTU's forum. |

I wasn't aware that any CDG manufacturer made karaoke with a guide tone anymore. Of course DK, Nikkodo and the original Backstage discs all had a pan flute melody guide in their songs. Most of the time, if the music is EQ'd correctly, the pan flute guide is hardly noticable. There are some tracks, however, where the guide tones are LOUD (some songs on Nikkodo I've heard are TERRIBLE in this regard). N3vino, what brand of karaoke is this mariachi music disc? There is no way to simply eliminate the guide track from a song. Sure, the use vocal reduction would greatly reduce it but it also reduces the quality of the music (I'm not a big fan of vocal reduction). Unless it's really loud, you may be able to EQ the music in a way that minimizes the pan flute melody guide. BTW, Sound Choice has a mariachi disc which doesn't have a melody guide - SC7108. |

Hey guys. Thanks for your replys. The CDG brand is Karaoke box. It's from Mexico. I have other mariachi CDG's that have no guide tones. I knew this one had the guide tones since I was able to hear clips of each song but I went ahead and got this one anyway because I like the songs on them and the arrangements are really good. I figured that maybe the guide tone had a certain encoding on it and that it could possibly be taken out with software. I can't EQ it out because I would probably EQ out the trumpets and violins as well. But that's O.K. I can probably drown it out with my voice. Thanks again everyone. |
