My baby is being forced to fly to Hawaii, poor girl, on July 16. I hope there are people here who can point her to some karaoke clubs on Oahu. She will be there to work at a company store doing some computer stuff, you know - geek stuff.

The poor girl. Poor poor GiGi.

If she ever goes to Tacoma though, I will have to tag along. I trust her, I respect Lonman, but I don't like her to call out anyone's name but mine when we get behind closed doors.

EDIT: She's gonna laugh when she finds that there is an interstate highway in a water-locked state such as Hawaii.

You can or you can call me Chuck. We don't have the money to fly me too.

I doubt that it's changed much in the twety years since I was there. Of course, I could be wrong.

EDIT: I like ATM, thanks Babs. Aspires to mediocrity is too long for me too.

I know all about Hawaii,  I used to watch Magnum PI

I hope she isn't prone to heightsickness tho.  I heard some of those Sheer cliff drop-off Island roads are pretty scary.  There are a few roads I wouldn't be found near...

That being said,  I'm afraid of the Tacoma Narrow's bridge too.... Resonance problem or not  LOL

Good point, I'll have to warn her about that. I forgot.

I'm not one to be an alarmist Chuck,  Yet I'm also one who wouldn't be happy if a person I was visiting wanted to take a walk to the nearby grocery store, and unbeknownst to me, I ended up on something like this en route.

That picture alone could cause some people trouble. She will not be going too far from the airport which will keep her pretty close to sea level.

There is no way in he__ you'd get me to cross that unless there
was a chocolate cake at the other end being held by Vin Deisel.

Good point Babs. I would have trouble looking at it. The wind wind be the first thing I thought of, well, right after I figure out that it would take two breaths just to scream all the way down.

Open stairwells are just as bad...  same with balcony rings... There's a very strong magnetic pull downwards

no no,  I'm not trying to be.  I'm serious,  I really feel as though I'm being pulled over an edge.... Can't walk on the balcony of a nearby mall,  I get a strong feeling as though I'm going to fall over... I was serious.  Wasn't talking about the other tragic thing..  There is a sensation of being pulled..

btw,  here's a danger regarding Hawaii that deliberately isn't advertised.  Reason being, it'd seriously impede tourism.. They found out that the Bermuda triangle type phenomenon is an atmospheric condition that set's off air pressure variances similar to Tsunami, and Rogue wave, and rip tide physics, but it's atmospheric, so not visible when it happens,  Hawaii has the same conditions..  When I was in Hawaii,  I was just sitting on the beach, and all of a sudden I felt this tremendous splash (but there was nothing visible), next thing I knew, I was being pulled out to sea by this tremendous force that felt like a wave running back out to sea.  My friend actually caught the event on camera... It was a weird feeling !

Sorry Kappy, I was just playin'. I get that feeling from just tryin' to put up Christmas lights on the roof. My baby can't stand glass escalators or glass elevators or anything high.

OMG, sorry to hear it Kappy. My heart goes out to you. I can eat a bug sooner than go to the edge of a cliff.

We've been to Hawaii twice... we didn't karaoke while there though  :O

Our friends have been within the last few years and brought back some slips for hubby.  They are RVing now but when they get back I'll check with them to see what they remember...

As far as heightsickness, never heard it called that but I am afraid of heights.  I don't like loved ones being near the edge either....  We were recently in KC and went to the memorial, I rode up the elevator and climbed the last few levels of stairs (the stairs went around the tower on the inside with a view to the bottom) and made it to the door to the outside....  PROMPTLY turned around and SLOWLY made my way back to the LEDGE (not really but felt like it) where the elevator came up to meet us.  Richard made it to the elevator door at the same time I did, after he walked around the tower on the outside, as I went down the stairs as close to sitting on one step at a time as I could!  Never again...

Years ago we went to the Tower of America in San Antonio with a great-aunt who apparently has the same affliction.  We made it around the tower with our arms outspread and our back to the wall... I'm sure we were quite a site!!   LMAO  There is some sort of pull and it was mentioned at the Tower of America...  Now I know 3 people including myself that are almost sick with fear of heights...

Susie :)

P.S.  My stomach is doing flops as I remember these times.... Fortunately never had nightmares about it though (knock wood).
