LOL  Donny,  Actually it's going to be one of those night's again.  Good ole Murphy just seems to be eyeing me.  Can't really explain what's going on, but sort've the type of situation where you get tired, then the head start's doing funny things with the help of weird stuff such as the following.

I was all set to crash after being awake for two straight days and nights, and I figured, "What better way to tire myself out than to read my Daddy's Junky Music "Customer appreciation" flyer that came via Email. You know the Daddy's chain I'm sure,  The are around the Boston area too, In fact Hershel Gardner is the manager of Daddy's in Boston (although I'm not overly fond of him),  He was drummer for the band New England (I think).  So what do I see when I open the flyer, A memorium to a person and guitarist I knew nearby who was about my age (apparently died in his sleep last week). An assistant manager at a nearby store.

He was a decent guitarist, so about my being light,  it's sort've ironic, my intent was to read a music catalog, and drift off with nice visions of bargain musical stuff I might wish to purchase tomorrow morning..

So, yeah I think I'll try Singer's showcase .. because right now I don't feel like "falling asleep"..  It's that overtired weirdness, as I stated I get goofy, and the wheels spin... So I think as long as I stay awake,  I don't have to worry about dying in my sleep ! Like Eric... Yeah,  I feel bad he died, don't get me wrong, yet now I'm at phase two of this.... sort've freaked out...

OK,  I'm going to try to lighten up...I had no intent on being awake still..
But I'm too busy doing the hypochondriacal "control" thing...  Of to Singer's Showcase.  (Maybe the Ativan will kick in)...

Sorry Donny,  Had no intent on threadjacking your thread too..   Depending on how long you were in the Boston area,  do you remember the band "Jet" This would go back to our younger days,  when we were in our twenties.  (assuming you were in Boston area at that time)..  OK off to Singer's Showcase.

What's up Steven?....Can't sleep? :(

Fraid of not waking up?

I check the morning paper each day to see if I made the obits or the police blotter...If I ain't in neither, I know it's going to be a good day! LMAO

But I save the horriblescopes till after my day is over just to see if they got it right-they never do.

This Eric guy.....Pick up a 6 pack and go visit him after dark...You n him get to know each other again....Now is a good time to confess about you n his girlfriends. :)

We got a really good thunderboomer rolling in....It's after midnight and I just got off work....I'm going to slam 2 beers and go find my Fluffy Stuff....I'll show her what it's like to feel old age creeping up on her....(that's me-Old Age) LOL

...Then I will snuggle deep into that new kingsized pillow topped mattress she bought last week-it has a goose down 4" thick pillow top-and all that will be sticking out from under the covers is my nose cause I guarantee she has it freezing in there AND the pedistal fan blowing on high. ...And then I will go into a deep coma and not care if I ever wake up.

Sleep is my escape Steven....When I do it I pretend I am stealing it....I gloat about it....I covet it....I make it my sinful reward where I lavish myself with the most comfortable bed and pillows and situation possible....No phone in the bedroom and the window is totally light tite....Yeah, it's my sinful greedy reward that I steal from the rest of the world.

Yeah Keith,  I get like this when it's my time of the month. Hormonal 'n stuff   LOL ..

I'm going to go lay down, and see if I can forget about not waking up in the morning just long enough to fall asleep !     I have ALOT to do tomorrow.

LOL,  Night Keith,  Don't forget to unplug your valuable electronic stuff  (which includes the computer),  I've fried a few toys leaving them plugged in around here during T-storms

Donny nice voice, and very pretty composition.   I'd orchestrate it more.  I'd put down a bass track, synth track, and add some percussion, yet not sure how much percussion you'd want, maybe just conga, Afuche (or Kabasa) if percussion at all.. You could do it with the Glen Campball type orchestration he uses in "Until it's time for you to go". I'd go still with acoustic/electric guitar, but lay back abit on it,  tighten up the picking abit, possibly using two guitar tracks for guitar, a tighter and cleaner picking quality, Get an idea from Fogelbergs Souvenirs as to how it can flow...  I feel orchestrating that with some strings and other synth patches and conveying your message using interlude passages that compliment the mood of the song would really turn that into something quite spectacular.  Vocals were great, as was the composition.  I'd fill it in now instrumentally !  I'm hearing Glen Campbell style backing in my head, but I have to think this thru. On his slow songs he uses interesting means of orchestration.  You do need "fill in" I'm going to head to the other computer and listen to Glen Campbell, Fogelberg, and periodically break-in with the keyboard sound quality Sheryl Crowe uses on "Strong ENough"  You can really add so much to the great vocals with tasteful orchestration.

Speaking of Glen Campbell, Witchita Lineman was one of the coolest songs ever.
As a young teen that song gave me goose bumps for some reason.  Hey, I was a weird, sensitive teen I guess.   LOL

Wichita is one of the prettiest compositions ever written IMHO.   It's up there with Never My love (The Association)  Easily two of the top ten pop "love ballads" of the last century.  In there there'd be room for a Carpenter's composition, and a JT composition too..  You know a gorgeous song that's underrated in terms of just how pretty it is Don, yet it's quite different in style..  "Wond'ring Aloud"  Jethro Tull,  Listen to what Anderson does with the orchestration in that song.

Sure, I remember Wonderin' Aloud.  I was a big Tull fan for at least the first four albums.  The Carpenter's did some of the prettiest songs ever written.  Paul Williams wrote some great one's for them  -- Rainy Days And Mondays, We've Only Just Begun.  I'm not sure who wrote Goodbye To Love -- that song a good guitar solo in it.  Karen Carpenter had a beautiful voice.

Yep,  and she wasn't confident about becoming a singer.  Drumming was her thing

 Steve ma man....hey Milo,
Steve, you're right on with the filler stuff....just don't know how to do that,   but.....
a friend of mine wants to "arrange" all that stuff for me and when he's finished, wants me to record it again. All I have to do is sing it, since I can't play anymore, had a stroke about six years ago and my hand won't do what I tell it to. Him and his friends in the band really like the song and figured there might be "something" there seeing as there aren't a real lot of those type songs coming out these days.
Hey Milo, thank you so much for your very kind comments. Much appreciated. Maybe some day I'll do a karaoke version of "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast"...that's always a hit around the Boston area....and don't hear that song done very often.
                       Take care and thanks again,

                                                Donny "B" 8)

ps: I was, and still am, in the area Steve, and that band name rings a bell...do remember a band called  "THE HUB"....a guy named JIM PLUNKETT was our bass player....he's still doing shows ( no...not the football player)!!

Donny,  Certainly take the musicians up on it.  Let them orchestrate this for you. Make sure of course you have something dated so you'll have proof that it's "your song",  evidence so noone can claim rights to it or rip it off
