I caught your bluegrass rendition in SS......since you're not taking comments, I thought I'd impose and say....DANG GIRL!! YOU'RE THE REAL DEAL!! . Seriously, you sound really pro! You need to make a video and git yourself up there on CMT or somethin'. Your voice is perfect for country music, and your mixing highlights it to the max! I told you I'd find a way to run my mouth....I'm done now. ......Perry |

It's funny that you used the phrase "the real deal"! I've been calling her that too for the last year so -- there must be something to it! |

Hahaha....... well, you know how to snag my attention when I'm half asleep, I'll give ya that Perry. :D But...... thank you. I was getting really bad on my last few songs of subbing and then not getting back in there to reply to people.... and I usually listen to subs there while I'm browsing around in here, but I don't always take the time to comment. SO..... that's rude. Until I'm sure I will be there commenting to others.... and replying to my own.... I don't want to sub for comments. That's all. There's a few people in there who do that, never listen and comment back, and don't reply to their comments they get..... and personally, I think it's rude to be that way. But, I did want to sub a song, cause it's been a while. And, I do appreciate you listening Perry... and as  as I may be now, haha, I appreciate the comment here. Odie, YOU are just biased, cause you're my friend. :D You've already picked that song apart and told me where I went awry, haha..... like the good friend ya are. Now off to play in forums. |

I too think you are a great singer. You should get a page on myspace.com, in the musician's section. Perfect way to gauge public's opinion away from Karaoke crowd. Just a suggestion. |

I had a MySpace, I just..... can't keep up with all the places on the net that friends/family/kids want me to have a page, or be a member. Good lord, there's too many options out there!! LOL However, I didn't spend alot of time there, I never knew a thing about a "musicians" section. Hmmm..... that might be fun. Thanks for telling me. I do belong to garageband, I have for quite a while. But it's for original music only, and gosh.... it's tough as nails in that place. I did have songs listed, and got ALOT of really helpful feedback. It's a neat place. But I need to get my demo cd made first, so I can have better recordings to submit. I am actually working on that- with Don's help- if I ever get it done. Just a small demo cd of some of m own stuff..... with REAL musicians behind me, in a studio that's not far from where I live. I'm not the greatest musician, just a back porch fiddle & guitar player. So... we'll see. Maybe I'll submit some more stuff in the future to places. I really do like (and no..... this is NOT the place for it, haha) to have my songs picked apart piece by piece. It helps me..... and, it's interesting, to hear strangers views on something like that. ( I mean, honest views, of people who do NOT know you in any way) Don does this for me now, he really has a great ear for pitch....... LOL ........ he calls me on it if my voice wavers from a C to an F# where it shouldn't .... for even a milisecond. And I love it, he makes me hear things I miss, and it helps me improve. And he's picked apart alot of my originals, told me where I need to change a chord progression maybe a bit, or add a bridge, or a better opening verse. Anyways, Charmin is rattling off at the mouth. Haha, is it obvious I like to talk music? :D Thank you Eben. |

Wrong on two counts! LOL I thought you were the "real deal" before I had even said one word to you. In fact I didn't even know your name yet. I just remember almost two years ago seeing this petite girl get up there every so often and sing like she was from Butcher Hollow or something. I could have sworn you were in your late 20's. Plus, you don't have to sing perfectly on every song to be "the real deal"! |

Hmmmmm........ why do I get the feeling I'm about to be asked a favor? hahaha..... Kidding you Don. Buther Hollow? Could that have been the days when I was still so nervous to get up there each time that I never failed to use "Coal Miners Daughter" as my first "comfort song" of the night? hehe.... I finally got past that, I guess. |

It changes for me from time to time, but I generally have a "warm-up" or "pipe-check" song that I stick with for a while. And BTW...I'd LOVE to hear you do ANY Loretta Lynn...and I bet you'd knock "Harper Valley PTA" outa the park!! |

That, or slam a couple beers first, before I got up there. I am not quite so nervous at Denny's anymore, I've went there so long and most everyone in the usual crowd- and the KJ's and bartenders- all know me well enough, that I'm not shy anymore to get up. But yes..... if I go to a new place.... my nerves take over, and I find myself looking for a song I'm comfie on, and have sang for years. I may not seem so in here, but I'm terribly shy in person, at first.... especially if I'm singing in front of people for the first time. Cause I'm too afraid I'll mess up.... or just sound bad.... or people will "be watching me"..... I HATE that. :banghead: But I'm getting braver all the time. LOL I imagine, if I made it to Texas, I'd be the same way. Even though all of you have heard me, you've never seen me sing (live), I'd clam up the first song or two. And, don't tempt me....... gosh, now you got me wanting to take my comp in the bedroom to record. I love singing Loretta Lynn, though I don't do alot of hers. Coal Miners Daughter, is just a favorite song of mine. And..... Harper Valley is another. I've sang that alot. Maybe I'll try to get a chance to sing & sub one of those for you. Just careful of your requests, haha, you never know what I might decide to try, and that could be scary. (Hollaback Girl was a dare after all, LoL) And Dave, I'm STILL trying that one, I just don't think the dang song was meant for me to try it, really...... I suck at that one. (badly) I'd send you a sample of my croaking on it, but you'd be nice and not agree with me. :D So trust me- I sound horrible on it. :( |

That's funny...when I said Real Deal, I didn't realize it was so common when referring to Charmin, but apparently, it's a universal term for Sensational!! Yeah, I know what you mean about not having time to commit to listening and commenting. My job has recently turned into more of a time consuming headache, but I still try to visit SS in the few hours during the week that I am home. I always try to get a new sub up too, but that's getting to be a real chore...I'm losing what I thought I once had, or maybe I never had it to begin with? . What really kills me is trying to devote the time to atleast listen and comment to the ones who visit my subs regularly...it seems to take hours on end for all of the songs to buffer, then I get frustrated and walk away. I don't want to be thought of as rude because I'm really trying. I'm not a housewife(obviously), so I can't live the SS lifestyle. But the lifestyle I'm living currently is something that I didn't sign up for either(my job). If I wanted to be gone 5 days a week in a truck, I'd get a job where I only drive, and lose about 9 yards of PIA stress that's in my delivery boy type job I do now. And yes, I've noticed that some who feel that they aren't being lavishly noticed in SS by the same people on a regular basis will not return the favor. That is a touchy feely subject to start throwing out in the open, but someone has to say it. . It could be that they just don't like your music, or that the rendition was so terrible that they didn't want to lie about it when commenting, or they listen a couple times and don't come back until you listen and comment to one of theirs. I mean hey, what's fair is fair...right? . I think listen only is a great option in SS, it does away with all of the "Hey! look at me" behavior, and doesn't obligate one to feel these feelings of...What if I don't?....Am I being rude?......Was it really that terrible?......I don't want to lie.....So and so just doesn't like me........blah, blah, blah,......wah, wah, wah,..... Myself, it really doesn't affect me in that way. I'm just good at figuring out other people.....and I haven't been wrong yet. Take the forums for instance......nah, I'm not going there. It was great to stop in and say hi y'all, but I'll probably be a stranger as usual...sighhhh. Charmin, I don't pick your songs to pieces....they just sound great to me! You're the shizz 'Lil Mizz!! |

I don't think I'll be either place though when I do get a full time job again..... It's no big secret I can't be here in the evenings, so....... :crying2: ........ (while not being forgotten, haha, by sticking one up for "listen only" now and again) I certainly didn't mean that YOU have ever been rude, not at all. Hehe, I'm just gonna quit talking about that....... For the record, I'm always in ther listening while I'm in HERE blabbing away...... That's my music I listen to as I'm here...... I just don't always comment. (but shame on me, I guess I should be, since it really doesn't take much time) Quote: Myself, it really doesn't affect me in that way. No, only Don picks them to pieces..... cause he lives by me, and it's something I appreciate him doing. I don't expect people here to do that..... (sometimes, there's not enough room for people to list all MY mistakes, LmAo). But thank you, I don't much feel like "the shizz" (what the hell is that anyhow?) :D ....... You're very sweet, and I might add..... your a hell of a singer. Anyways, blah blah blah, blah blah blah...... I'm gonna go visit the showcase. (AND comment.......) |

Now let's make it clear, I don't take it upon myself to "pick Charmin's songs to pieces". I don't call her at 3 AM and say "hey the two lines in the chorus are flat!" LOL I'm asked to help her critique her songs and I'm glad if it helps her. Often times she's a tougher critic of her subs than I am. |

Odie....... not saying anything bad about you. You gettin' your hackles up? Hahaha...... knock it off now, ya hear? Yes, I've always asked you to be super-critical, and I'm glad you do that. It helps me. I only used that as a means of saying that I know my songs are lacking.... and that you always take the time to tear them apart for me...... but you're right.... you never call after 2:55 am, that's a fact. :D  I'll never mention that here again, I certainly did not mean it as an insult, I'm grateful that you always take the time to listen so closely....... you don't realize what a big help you always are, and how much I do appreciate you. Now you got me sounding WAY too mushy for my norm, so just...... stop that. You're gonna ruin my smart aleck reputation. :D |
