I was looking to buy another player - what the heck?
All the ones I am formiliar with are gone
The pioneer PD-V10g dual tray - gone
RSQ - triple tray - gone
I really searched and searched - e-bay, google etc...
I guess I'll have to go with one of these new models, but which one?
RSQ has a NEO-E500 ? or NEO C320? (I don't really care for either one)
I definitely don't want vocopro - my goodness they're every where - yuch
I'd rather have a dual tray, but they seem to be nonexistent
I just want something to play CDGs that is around $200
Help - please Before you answer you may want to check if they are still sold - I'm telling you most of them aren't - it is a conspiracy!

Quote: The pioneer PD-V10g dual tray - gone RSQ - triple tray - gone
Wasn't that Pioneer "drop tray" unit discontinued 3-4 years ago ? It was tough to find it around 2003, and it seemed to remain VERY popular even after Pioneer stopped it's production. Guys around here were raving about it around 2002-2003. 2004 you could find a few in surplus floating around but they still seemed to retain their value (I think), like an idiot, I sat, didn't buy because I was told RSQ/JVC had players that played more formats...
I've noticed RSQ/JVC seems to be on to newer things now. JVC might still be easier to find the 3 tray, Not sure, I was perusing Ebay two weeks ago. I wonder if RSQ is onto newer things that MIGHT not be as preferred as what they are leaving behind ???? If people in here believe this to be the case, I should start searching high and low for one of their discontinued 2-3 tray units. Didn't the RSQ 2 and 3 tray popular models handle more formats than the Pioneer drop tray unit ? I don't know, but you've brought up a good point. Is this a good time for a buyer to look back for a good player, as opposed to assuming within the next year like models that are discontinued will have replacements ? Within the affordable range ? I'm hearing (but don't know) the NEO model's aren't as popular by some.
This is a good question Bab's, I think it's been touched on, but I'm curious about this as well.

Start burning to a hard drive. I did a MrOctober show last week in Las Vegas and just used My lap top with Troubadour into a mackie mixer and all went well it was nice to click on songs and not worry about changing disc's.

Buy a Plexwriter to play the cds, not a machine. That is what I'm going to use with my computer.

plextwriter will work fine for playing but unless your software allows you to change keys or you have a mixer with key changer on it, you may lose your ability to change keys which would be a bummer.
What software do you use to run your show?

Okay I have a plextor drive. I don't like using it for shows unless
I'm recording people.
I don't have a need for a 5 tray player. I really only need a 1 tray,
but prefer a 2 tray.
This is crazy - does no one know of a player on the market today that is
decent. I'm ready to call pioneer up and say "what the heck were you thinking
getting rid of the PD-v10G duel tray" IDIOTS
At least they should have replaced it with something comparable.

I may go with the RSQ MV-333 Triple-Tray CD+G/VCD Karaoke Player.
I found it at Ace karaoke. I'm searching for a better deal. I don't want to spend
so much money. Opinions please ...............

Never mind - they're out of stock - go figure
The RSQ NEO 500 is a single tray and around $200, but I'm afraid. I've heard no
reviews on this.

I've only heard user reviews, most weren't very favorable. Haven't had a chnace to play with one yet.

Most KJ's have moved to pc.
It is time to upgrade. You next player should be a notebook and an external hard drive.

They are no longer being made.
RSQ just came out with the MK22 that was supposedly the new replacement for their single tray - although I do not believe JVC makes them anymore.

Thanks Lonman. I wonder why the company discontinued their popular players, and just seems to have filled the slot with the Neo models ?? What do they have to gain in doing this I wonder.
Is there a possibility (as stated) CD's are phasing out, and people are preferring the hard drive type models, computers, or Jukebox models such as CAV's JB model ? I haven't a clue.
Bab's, Just for kicks. Why not check Ebay, and see what they have pertaining to the model's you mentioned. I'm also curious to see if there are decent Pioneer drop tray units for sale still, but weren't they abit more restricted regarding format they could handle ??

Babs, I'm talking about a stand alone unit. PLEXWRITER is external and plugs into UBS on computer. Sax & Dottys runs it fine. They have key change. When you want to play a disc it's really easy. Just direct the program to the player, queue the song on the disc and Bingo. It thinks it's a hard drive. This can be done while playing other songs. When it's done you hit the next song on the queue from the hard drive. Never skip a beat. I'll never spend money on a machine again.

Just spoke with one of the tech guys at Ace Karaoke and he said that they have some refurbished MV-333's on Ebay for bid. None of them will be under the Buy Now so you will have to watch the bidding closely.
This is a good unit! Still have one thats working great after 8 years.
He said the only alternative they offer is the DGX500E 5 Disc machines. There are some drawbacks to this machine....1) each time you open to replace a disc the unit goes through all 5 discs and reads the info and stores on a chip. This takes extra dead air time which I would not want (he said he did not care for the time lapse either) 2) you cannot open the unit to load additional discs while another disc is playing. 3) He said this unit is not as hefty and will not take the abuse the JVC or RSQ units will take.
Other than that this unit is feature rich, plays just about any format you could want and is reasonably priced at $249.
I don't know what I would do at this point....guess I would bid on ebay or buy a single tray unit that will fit my needs.

The single/trip trays weren't really RSQ's to begin with, they were made by JVC for RSQ. When JVC quit the line, it also affected RSQ. None of the new models from RSQ are made by JVC, although they wouldn't say who does make them now, they would state who they weren't being made by.

Big Dog is right you can do this with a Plextor drive. You must have hosting software that will work with the drive and can accomodate key change. Sounds like Sax & Dotty's can.
My second system has a Plextor external drive and MTU Hoster software. Hoster has a CDG import feature that allows me to import the song off of the customers disc and play it, key change it, and then when the song is done it dumps the file from my hard drive. This will work for CDG and VCD formats.
Only time it will not work is when the customers disc is a Sound Choice MediaCloq disc. It will not import the song. This may be a problem with other software as well....not sure.
What software do you use for hosting Babs? (just curious, don't believe you ever posted what you use)

I use a Cavs unit. I know a lot of you don't like Cavs, but I've been using my unit for 2 years without a problem. I use the plextor for recording, but it bites to play cdgs. Takes to long to load. I like using a disc player with my unit, but mine is on the frits.
I honestly seldom use the player. I like having the option of using it if I want.
I have been watching e-bay for a vintage player. I don't mind refurbished or used.
I'm going to take a look at the MV-333. Thanks flipper
