Post subject:  VocoPro CDG-9000PRO Professional Dual CD & CDG Player
Okay, someone again please tell me why I shouldn't get a VocoPro.  I have had 2 RSQ players go bad on me in the last 1 1/2 years.  By the way, how hard is it to replace optical lenses on those?

I do this as a sideline so I haven't really dug into computer KJing, but this is really pusing me toward that.

You do not want to have one player with two drawers.  Better to have two separate players.  If one goes down you'll have a backup.   Already had it happen.   Still made full money, the show must go one.

I had the vocopro 8000 Played it on show a week for 1 year. on deck on it went out.  It was 1 week out of warranty, for a $500.00 I can buy a lot more than to waste my money on another one.

As a rule if the name or manufacturer has to put "PRO" as part of the name or use "PROFESSIONAL" in the description, then it probably isnt. Vocopro sells crap, JVC, Sharp, Sony, Pioneer, Mackie, Carvin, Peavey. you can pretty well count on as a standard everyone follows if you want something that will last.

The pioneer V10 is a sturdy workhorse...

I've used the triple tray players, and NEVER had a tray issue. After three years of use, one player had a scrolling video problem.

I replaced it with yet another triple tray I've had at home, and bought a third to replace THAT.

These suckers are terrific, and to be honest, I don't know what I'll do when they finally go tango uniform! From what I'm seeing, I don't care for the NEO players that RSQ does...

I stand by my original post.   TWO SEPERATE MACHINES.   I don't care if they have twenty drawers.  You will have a backup in case one goes south.   Like knightshow reinterated.   He had more than one machine.

What good is a hundred drawers if the machine won't open any of them?

I would never consider doing a show with one machine.   I have always used two set up in a travel box.   When I go to laptop, guess how many I'll have?   I have already heard about people blowing sound cards and hard drives.    Do you want to finish a job that you started or do you want to pack up and go home with little or no money?    What will you do if you have a job the next night and the next?   You going to cancel them, because your [highlight=crimson]one[/highlight] machine is in the shop?   For who knows how long.   Nobody fixes anything in one day.  Two weeks if you're really lucky and you plan on paying extra for the rush job.

Probably one of the things i'll agree with bigdog about, i'll never run a show without at LEAST 2 machines available.  Backup machine is very important.

My reason to convert to a laptop.

Over the past almost 14 years of doing professional karaoke this is the tally.

2- the first version of the Pioneer players that didn't have CDG, just played lasers. --$1000 each
10- Pioneer V121G machines-- $800 each
4- Denonet LA-215CK machines-  $900 each   My favorite machine.
10- JVC SL-XV-22 machines ---$175 each
2- Pioneer DVL 888 machines  --$1200 each
2- Pioneer 555 machines --$500 each, these are under 6 months old, one is already down.
   I may have missed some.

EVERY ONE OF THEM IS JUNK.    Pioneer is the supposed karaoke leader, they can't even make a machine that queues, without doing it manually.   Nobody makes a machine that can handle professional usage.    Constant drawer in and out night after night.   The 121's cost $400 a pop to fix.   Each one was fixed at least once, if not more.   Denonets were all fixed.  Two machines in the shop at a time constantly.   The laser disc players were pushing out a 13" drawer with the weight of the disc added in, going in and out every 5 minutes.    I bought the JVC's as throw aways.

You can see that there has been thousands of dollars spent to buy and repair, over the years.   No one makes a machine that can take the punishment.  They make them for home use to sell to everyone.   Not to Pros.    If they did they would have metal gearing and heavy duty everything.  

I will not spend any more of my hard earned money on anyones player again.   I'm converting to computer.   I figure $5 - 6,000 to do it the way I want to do it.   With a backup laptop and hard drives.    I won't have to worry about dust and scratched discs, that I polish frequently.    The computer won't have drawers taking a toll on them.    The hard drive is not repairable so they are basically throw aways.    Computers cost more, but I don't abuse my stuff.    The machines crapped out because they can't take our level of usage.

Sounds good.  I am a loooong way from that though.  I have to rip all my CD+Gs first, and that is time consuming.  I just need something to last me a couple of years.
