Post subject: | Crying |
I sing a lot of the older songs and for some reason lately women have started crying, especially when I sing "In The Garden," and several other songs by Elvis. One weekend about four women at one table started crying. One night after I finished sing I looked over at this lady and she yell "you made me cry," I asked, mam I'm not that bad am I? She said Oh No I love that Song. This last weekend I was sure one couple was ignoring me. About twenty minutes after singing "In the Garden" I decided to take a break. The couple that I thought was ignoring me came over to my table and said how much they appreciated me singing that song. Her husband said that his wife had been bawling her heart out every since I sang it. It turned out to be a song that her mother had sang to her every night at bed time when she was a child. Do you have songs that touch people and if so what are they? Jackson PS - This may sound cold, but I also find that when I can make this connection they tip exceptionally well. |

, It's a funny correlation. The harder you make them cry, the more they love you. |

I did Cat's in the Cradle once and there was a tear shed from someone in the crowd. I'm looking for a disc that has Clarence Carter's "Patches" I could sell that good to a crowd. |

Harry Chapin drew tears. As did James Taylor. ALOT of Teary-eyed folks in audiences. If you ever watch an old rerun of one of their concerts they usually show the audience.. These guys knew how to compose and sing emotional ballads. Thing is, Harry Chapin was able to get alot of men's eyes to water... JT was mainly females... "you can close your eye's" was a huge tear-jerker. Much more-so than fire & rain. That song flooded concerts LOL Guy's got lucky that night too ! |

I've had some people cry after I sang the song "My Immortal" by Evanesence. I think it is a huge compliment, but I also give a lot of the credit to the song itself. The song is so emotional. I try not to do it very often because it is so depressing. When people request I sing it I try to put it at the beginning of night or when others are singing slow songs. If you haven't heard the song. It is a must. |

I've never cried due to a song sung at karaoke. Laughed...... heck yeah, but never have cried. But, songs in general, can yank out feelings you think you have hidden. I've been driving before, and had a certain song come on radio that hits me so hard.... I've literally pulled off side of the road because I started crying. It's not surprising that it happens to you out singing. I mean, a song that hits hard like that can happen any time, any where. And if they tip ya bigger, you must have done something for them that they appreciated.... even if it did cause tears. (And BTW, to those who read this..... this was not posted by Charmin...... she does not cry..... ) |

I love singing songs that touch people. I once was asked to sing a song for a friend of mine in Washington who was going through a tough time....it was Foolish Games by Jewel. He was on his cell phone (and CRYING) that was when I realized that I had that capability. I love knowing I got some sort of emotional reaction out of people...even if it's just silence hanging in the air. That's what it's all about, right? The reaction. :handshake: |

Each night I pick a man and his wife and have them face each other and hold hands while I sing "The Wonder of You," by Elvis. I alway tell the wives that after this they can't get mad at their husbands for at least a week. Before it's over his wife is usually crying. However, last night a couple came in with their two teenage daughters and when I sang to their parents, their mother didn't cry. Both of the girls started crying. They finally had a big family hug. I really enjoyed this. |

I don' think I've ever been able to make someone else cry by singing to them. I've done it a few times but that was luck of the draw because I did an old favorite of someone they missed. One song I did almost made me cry while I was singing it, Cat's in the Cradle. I have always loved this song and I did see that it reminded me of my relationship with my father. During the song it became more and more obvious to me how well anyone with a career and a dad could relate to this song, especially me since I was the one letting my guard down to sing the song. I didn't cry of course but I did get a little choked-up by the end. I resolved to change the way my life was so that my dad would be included more even though he lived 1500 miles away then. |

I sang Love Me Tender to my Dad for Father's Day and made him cry. It was the best feeling ever giving a present. |
