When I was younger I thought I was going to be the next Joni Mitchell, I would still love to be a singer.  Go figure!  LOL

Other job I think I'd like is an attorney or paralegal as I tend to see things in black or white....

A photographer or artist would be cool too!

Hmm, those are just the first four that come to mind, I'll probably never be able to pick just one dream job!

Susie :) <- who likes what she does now too!

I'd love to be a singer too. I'd also like to be a child psychologist and a novelist (novels in progress actually). I have a few odd jobs that I've always wondered about and wanted to try, if only for a week. For instance, my uncle's a truck driver and I'd like to drive a big rig! My bf's a mechanic and I think it'd be cool to work under the hood of a car. I think it'd be fun to work as an interior designer. I used to draw up sketches for houses and wonder what it would be like to be an architect... There's a ton more, but I don't think I can list them all!

As a person who dropped out've medical school a matter of months prior to taking med boards, and someone who hangs with friends that happen to be Atty's I've learned that what I might've wanted to do (because while glancing in from the outside, the title appears prestigious, and the work seems interesting) wasn't taking into consideration who *I* am, and I can't dissociate from that encumbrance. Alot of these careers are not for most people !  They aren't glorious and easy, they deal with unpleasant aspects, and require a person have a certain type ability that often can't be learned by the time a person is old enough to be in High School.

I honestly can't say in retrospect there's ANYTHING different I could've done job-wise than what I ended up doing (or not doing).  To make such a statement wouldn't be taking into consideration my character, and disposition.  Fact is, sometimes given a certain aptitude and personality type (which I took several tests regarding)  Scholastic Blanc <SP> aptitude was one in particular test.. I can't be in most jobs actively with other people...LOL..  I can't play the ugly corporate game, and while I love construction work, that requires a certain ability and physical conditioning too not all have...

I've been working from home around 30 hours per week for a larger company that has set me up to do-so.  In that respect I am lucky.  While I won't go into particulars on the internet (that'd be plain stupid), I've also been fortuneate insofar as I have a few close to me that are VERY into investing, and financial planning area's.. A few that are quite astute in these area's too.. By nature I'm lazy, but in some cases, all I have to do is listen, and react based on advice of those smarter..So I supplement what I don't do, in other ways too to make ends meet, While I had to work hard from the time I was a  young teen, and never had anything handed to me, I learned that happiness doesn't come from your "job".. simillarly if you aren't happy, despite what you do for work, your life is going to be missing ALOT..There's nothing I could do, other than something of the nature of what I currently do...In real, I don't do well in the job setting around other peoples BS... nor should they be exposed to my quirks...If I had the ability to be a famous musician, I was in a setting where that would've come to fruition. That wasn't in the cards for me either. I've done work with a few known names, and turned down certain gig's because I have little tolerance to stress, and I'm not one to take chances or gamble.  I wasn't cut out for that either obviously... I've been in management, and got a taste of local politics.  A person needs a certain inner-strength to be in these area's too... You need a certain toughness that I don't enjoy.  I've slept in different corner's of the barn (so-to-speak) tried many jobs, and I've learned that a job must suit OUR nature. Often this precludes the "dream job".  There seldom is such a thing. It'd make more sense to dream a money tree blossom's in your backyard (and the IRS and cut-throat neighbors never find's out, while the neighbor's might not be cut-throat now, wait til they findout you have a money tree growing in your backyard and dig it up).

I can't honestly say I'd be anything more or do anything different than what I currently I'm, or am doing.. What we do is often the culmination of many experiences, and being in a certain place at a certain time, it's likely fate and in many cases I believe we are doing what we can, and the best we can given other aspects of our life-style..

If I had a wish, it'd be to have a different character than I currently do. That'd precede any job switches. From there, who knows ?

Milo,

My uncle is a VERY high powered attorney who has been listed in the top 10 aatorneys in the U.S.  I don't want to be anywhere near that but I think my personality fits taking sides and black and white.

My aunt is a photographer, not as her job but wow!!!  It is such a creative process, as has been seen on these very forums!

I too would love to be a vet but I could never!   I have to look away when my puppies get shots!!! LOL  It was the same way with my kids!  I don't like needles and having to hurt someone or some animal to make it better is something I don't think I could do.....

Owning the lounge would indeed be cool!

Susie :)

When I was young and had to tell people what I wanted to be when I grew up, I ALWAYS said that I wanted to drive a subway train.

I thought the monorail in Atlanta and at Hartsfield airport was the coolest vehicle in the world, and I wanted to be the captain of that ship. Funny, I'm sure i could easily get that job today...

I love being with people and love entertaining.
If I knew I could make money at it I'd probably be a professional singer
or a comic. I got pregnant and married at 21 and that put a halt on my career.
I am happy with what I am doing now just wish I didn't have to work so hard for the money.

Now if I could really choose I'd win the lottery, own a night club in Chicago and sing
every weekend. I don't have a need to be famous. I just want to make people happy and make money at it.

Voice-over artist.  You know, those guys who read the copy for commercials and stuff.  Nice cushy gig, and the really good ones get pretty good money for really doing nothing more than reading into a microphone.

Of course, there would probably have been many years of reading local radio ads for almost no money, so it would be hard to make a career out of it.  But money isn't supposed to enter into this, right?

Part of the year I would like to be a Fishing Guide on local lakes and rivers, and then hit the National Bass Fishing Tournaments and be a tournament professional for the rest of the year.

Prior to the Karaoke Business I spent over 100 days a year on the water. Now I maybe get out once or twice a month.

Being on the water and fishing is sooooo low stress!

Stripper bar? Forget it, I want to own one of those ranches in Nevada. :)

Seriously, I would love to be a spy. Wouldn't that be cool? Being assigned a number with a license to kill. Hmm, how about 003? Traveling to all countries, finding bad guys and eliminating them. That would be cool.

Realistically, I would love to be a problem solver period. Someone everyone calls in to solve problems, whether they are the president of the US or corporate CEOs. When they are stumped, call in the expert at, everything. That would be cool.
