Karaoke Scene's Karaoke Forums :: What do you recommend?

Ok lets say I get SCDG and then load them to the computer and then have a program to play them. I use a laptop. What would be the best way to hook up a TV for them to look at while playing because I would feel like I would be using the laptop to get ready for the next song? Or could the Laptop just work?

I dont see why the RSQ would be better if there was more loading of discs going on. I understand though that the load time for SCDGs could be long if I had to put a new one in. What if I got two SCDG players?

Well it wont be in a noisy bar. We used the system in a room before and I was impressed. It is what we have so I hope it works for what we need if not we will make some changes with the PA system.

So I guess the new question is that if I can't get a laptop what is the second best option? RSQ doesnt make a cheaper dual tray... that might be nice huh?

I was thinking of getting SCDG and then copying them to my computer in CDG format thanks to RoxBox and then converting the CDG into Divx to be loaded to the Vocopro hard drive.

How does that sound?

Hello everyone! I have been searching, reading, and researching my butt off. I am trying to find the best choice for what we need. Situation: We have a decent new PA system with soundboard. Picking a Karaoke player to use with it: I have looked on the sites and ebay for so long and these are the choices I came up with but I am sure you all have some great advice for me that would help a lot. Go PC. with roxbox you can buy the scdg's, convert them for use with Roxbox and save money that way. For those reckomending MTU's HOster as there is another reason not to buy it. I don't care to reregister every three months as I have such a hard time remembering my medication from day to day. You're gonna hate the players that play scdg as you need to remember your remote so you can have faster access to your songs and what happens when your song request comes from another disc? It takes time to change and load those discs. Time you could use for other singers getting up. Dead air kills Karaoke shows.

I'm using a laptop and was intially going to purchase a CAVS player until I visited their user forum. I was just going on the assumption that you strictly wanted a CAVS or RSQ dedicated player. RSQ has a format called NEO+G which is their own proprietary format similar to CAVS' SCDG. I'm not aware of any converter for NEO+G to CDG though. I'm just glad that I didn't make the jump and purchase their SCDG player. Just an fyi, CAVS' service center is in Calif only, so if you need the unit serviced you have to ship it to them.

CAVS' SCDGs come with a basic windows player. They also sell a more advanced SCDG windows player but it still stinks!

I tried the PC Roxbox player and I am not a huge fan from just playing around with it. It seems decent though. The problem is that this is for an Organization to use even after I am gone so the Laptop may be feasible but too complicated for others after me. With that said I realize I dont have the most options in the world. I really need a library of 4000 songs for relativly cheap. The ebay deal seemed so great for that reason. With that said I hear the RSQ Neo 500 isnt bad? I guess a multiple tray might be nice... any suggestions? I love the help... I am getting lost here. I can't spend too much but the Org has some reserves we can use to get something that will hold up from year to year.

A lot of laptops come with an s-video out which you can extend your desktop on. You may also need an external Hard drive to hold the songs on. What RoxBox gives you is a convertor that converts the songs to mp3+G zipped. You only need the dvd drive to import the scdg. RSQ players are better quality than the CAVS in the meaning that they are built to last longer than cavs. a cavs player is only good enough for home use. The PC angle enables you to do more than just karaoke. You can also play MP3's of your dj music as well. The site is www.kjamp.com if you want to check it out. The player really isn't that hard to use. I picked it up within seconds of trying it.

The first two might get a few negative reactions due to them being VocoPro. Except for two wired mikes that I have owned since 1997, I have yet to see any VocoPro that has lasted a long time and sounded good. I'd go with the Pioneer and get the decoder for use with it as Pioneer is quality stuff.

Is there a Pioneer system that you see as the best unit to buy? Does that 300 disc system seem old? That VocoPro 40 gig hard drive system seems appealing still.

You might want to check out acekaraoke's aeseonic hard drive before going with the vocopro as the aceseonic imports from the cd drive that's built into it. The vocopro one needs a computer and if you're going to get a computer that has a drive that supports CD+G discs, you moight as well go PC.
