i'm hoping someone can help me out im new to the karaoke ive been doing disco's for the past 15 yrs and just going into to karaoke, the thing is i brought a powerpod k-12 deluxe powered mixer, i was told by the shop that it is very good for karaoke, i took his word, well the thing is i went out few days later for the gig to me it felt like it was lacking power, people sounded very flat nothing i could do on the mixer would help, i was running a pair of peavy 500 watt (each) speakers there was a load of top coming out even when it was turned right down it sounded really horrible any one else got the k-12 powered mixer if so can i have your help or what would you recommend

Mixer looks ok, not familiar with that brand over here.  It's rating is at a 4 ohms load meaning that at 8 ohms it's going to be significantly lower - possibly by half.  What is the ohms rating of the speakers - model speaker?  If they are 8 ohms, the power of the mixer/amp may actually be too little to adequately push the speakers to maximum efficiency - as you already have stated that it didn't seem to be putting out as much as it should - and you stating the lack of low end (more top assuming means highs) leads me to believe that just by what you are stating initially.  How did you have the eq's set?  
As far as singsers being flat sounding, do you mean in eq or lacking effects such as reverb or delay?
