It is hard to see my equipment in dim lit venues. I've tried different types
of lights, but nothing seems to be convenient. When I play outside I usually end up using a flash light, yuch!. I don't need a lot - just enough to see my controls. I haven't been able to find a clip on light I like. They usually end up falling off and
getting broken. What are you guys using?

I use a small hi-intensity desk light. Cost me $10 at the local Target. It's base is about 4 inches in diameter and it has a telescoping frame. The lamp section is about 2" and is adjustable so you can position the angle of the lamp head itself.
It does not have a clamp base but in the past I have used velcro to secure it when needed.
I have tried many other lights and this one sheds just the right amount of light and fits into my gig box easily for storage.
Does your mixer have a hookup for the liteOn style gooseneck light? This is another good way to do it.
Here is another gooseneck lite that does not require hookup to a mixer:

What type of mixer, because some have utility supplies in them.

My hubby uses a light something like this when he works on his computers..
Whereever you look the light hits. It's pretty cool and it leaves your hands free to do what you need to...Not sur ethat it would be real attractive on you but it could work....
It goes on your head like a sweat band....

What kind of mixer do you have. I just use a gooseneck that hooks into the mixer light connector.

I use a bnc gooseneck light, Think it's a Lamp Lite, I picked it up at Guitar Center. It is mounted to the rail of my mixer because my mixer does not have a light connecter. I think it was $60 but it works fantastic.
As for my lower racks my Furman Power Conditioners have rack lights.

Good memory - yes I use a Mackie 808m. I am computer based but I use a Cavs JB199. I don't use a flight case. I use a wire rack of my own design to cut down on the weight issue. I can hook a clamp to it, but my experience with clamps aren't good.
Great ideas!! I'm so glad I asked. You guys rock!!
I'm looking at that USB light - very cool.
Now the Littlite has my attention too, but what does it plug into? And how does it attatch to things. I read the e-bay listing and it doesn't tell much. This is probably
the best for what I need it for.

I called the company and she is looking up to see what is the best
goose neck for my system. She said it plugs into the front of the amp.
When I asked her what input you plug it into she said she'd have to get back to me after she looked up the amp I'm using. I'll let you know what happens.

the littlelites I have seen have a metal plate that comes with it and you can velcro or screw it to whatever surface you want to mount it to then the light base itself is magnetic.
They have several variations.
I will try to get you a digital photo of what I use. It's super simple and you can find them cheap in most variety type stores for like $10. They last me like 2yrs on avg.
The littlelites are like $50 but are very durable and designed for professionals.

There is not one you can connect to you mixer/amp, it don't have the littlelite connection.

here is a photo that is similar to the light I use. The boom extension adjusts for height and angle, and the light head adjusts for angle as well. the base is counterweighted for balance. Switch is on top of base. These usually come in white or black. Price $10 to $15 I usually find them in the office supply or lamp sections of variety stores.
