A friend oif mine is a finialist in a karaoke competion, and has to sing a song from the fifties (must be running it like Idol) next tuesday.  I have searched Billboard for the top hits of the 1950s, but haven't been able to find anything.

What I need is like the topp 100 (or more) hits of the Fifties, so we can figure out what song she is going to sing.

If anyone has a link or somthing to top hits of the 50s, could ya help me out?

TIA!!!!
Now off to google

On the lefthand side, blue hyperlinks will give you top hit's from 1950-1959.

http://www.fiftiesweb.com/tune5055.htm

When going back that many years, it's easy to get the "Billboard top 40" by individual year usually,  usually the decade period itself is tougher to get.  You can often get "top 100" from the actual billboard site going back either in increments of 5 years up to around 20 years back without getting overly specific.  You just want to do "hit radio"  "50's Billboard"  "American Top 40"   Casey Kasem....type searches, because "50's" music itself is an actual category of music.  Yet often not deliniated by actual 1950-1959 "charted 100 songs...  I think Top 40 actually was pretty much started, and the term coined IN the 1950's...By YEAR however, the search is always easy to find.

LOL, yeah....the Travelling Willburys were Tom Petty (born 1950), Bob Dylan (born 1941), George Harrison (born 1943), Roy Orbison (born 1936), and Jon Lynne (born 1947).

So that would have been a HELL of a high school band with all of those guys in their teens and early 20s and Petty in middle school!!

LOL...they always sounded old school, but they didn't record until the 80s!

Not to nitpick TOO much...but Jeff Lynne was the former frontman for ELO and a friend and producer for George Harrison   :D

Edit:  Sorry about that...prepping for this test on Wednesday has me in full-on information proofreading mode   :D

Thanks for all the help!!!!

She decide to go with "What'd I say" by Ray Charles.  Should be good for her voice/style, that is if she can get the lyrics memorized by tuesday night.  BUt she has had all weekend to practice.
