can anyone tell me if there is a programme that alphabeticly lists my karaoke cd's?so all i have to do is type in the songs and it will arrange it in order of artist,song and cd track for me.a very simple programme i have no doubt but one i have no idea where to get hold of.i've just bought a small collection of karaoke cd's just for family partys really but want the whole thing to be as user freindly as possible.i have bought a numark kmx01 player.does anyone have one and think they're any good?many thanks.justin uk. |

I would suggest you consider just using MS Excel - you can sort and print very easily with it. |

if you are not planning on having hundreds of cdgs excel or works spreadsheet works really good. Otherwise KJ Pro or Music Book Deluxe. |

me too. Although I do admit that the report part of Access is a tiny bit daunting at first. You just gotta dig in and play around with it. I've been able to come up with a nice looking report... may end up going in there and playing around again. What I love about it is you're not limited to what the packages like mbdeluxe and kjpro do. They're nice, but limited. Lonnie, do you know how to ELIMINATE, not hide, the dupes in Access? That's been my latest question. |

Best way I know of is to just take the time & go through them - this is time consuming but is the best way I feel as you can pick & choose which versions to leave in. On automated elimination, it may just eliminate the first version(s) it sees & leve the crap! |

I added a field to flag duplicates (logical, true/false). Then when printing, I just filter out the "trues". I do this in Excel - it can carry over to Access as well. The main thing is that you can pick and choose which ones to call duplicates depending on preference, etc. |

Thanks Marty! Either way, you still have to go through each & every song basically whether you flag to delete or you just delete as you go. |

I use EXCEL and love it, love it, love it. When I'm ready to print it out I can just take the program on a disk to STAPLES and they will print it out for me. THAT WAS EASY. 
I manually remove my own duplicates so I can choose the best song versions for my singers. However, I have a 2nd worksheet in my Excel program that contains all songs on every CD, including duplicates. I print one "Master" book from this, just in case one version isn't working I can quickly look to see if I have another. |

The easiest way is to use a ripper that has the capabilities to access huge data bases like Kjpro's kjpro.mde. and automattically names each one. Then there are karaoke programs that put your current library into a data base songlist.mdb which can be accessed with access or excel. I keep my karaoke selection pruned at about 13k and originally spent years getting rid of dups, typos, and bad rips. Now with my setup any type shows up in the search results and any suspects I just check the song as bad and it is moved into a bad song folder. Later depending on the problem I either fix it or delete it A few I might move into a dups folder.. A few months ago I changed all the artists fom last name, first to first last. I still run into some goofs but even at a busy show it only takes a second to tag and move. When I get new songs it is the same process I'll test play them, dups show up are moved and depending on the brand the lesser is deleted. Bad ones are moved then later fixed. I have been involved in many major projects businesses but nothing has been so time consuming as keeping track of a huge data base. |
