Okay, I just totally do NOT understand that statement, but I've heard other people say that before. How in the HECK are you recording that the vocals & music would not be in sync?  I don't get it?? Gawd, I hate being confused.  :(  Audacity must be VERY different from CEP. ??

Anyhow, can't wait to hear you... so I'm gonna pop over to the other side and see if you've gotten one subbed.

What happens is that people record their vocals seperate from the music, ending up with 2 track, one containing the music and one containing the vocals. After that they add the vocal effects, line up the 2 tracks and then post it. It's a lot of work, and you don't gain anything but a lot of wasted time.

I never record like that, and I take neither do you. I record the music and vocals live at the same time in the studio.

What I think was happening was that the computer was buffering my vocal as it recorded it...about the first minute was perfectly in synch, but it got steadily worse as it went.

Gonna rest my voice through the day and try some more when I get home from work.  Gotta see if I can get rid of the mic-pop I'm getting, too.

I DO record onto 2 tracks, but my voice is going into track 2 as the music is playing on track 1..... how could they not be synched up?  I have no way to record "live". Well, I do, but it would sound....."live". I don't recall yours ever sounding that way.

Now.... I do occasionally have to use WinAmp for the lyrics on songs I haven't learned yet. I assume maybe some people do that.... and sing to the WinAmp music track.  I mute the WinAmp, and sing to the music file that's inserted in CEP.... and just have the lyrics already started & paused at a certain spot.... then unpause it as I get there, so that the lyrics change correctly for me.  (In winAmp I mean)

Heck, maybe I'm just wierd.    Yeah, that's probably it. I hardly ever do this though- I usually sing with no lyrics, or printed ones if I HAVE to have them. But except the times I accidentally "slide" the vocal track by mistake, I've never had the 2 tracks out of sync. ??

Dave, I didn't see a sub yet!!

Oh, but that's a given when you record at home to sub online doncha know. You'll NEVER be satisfied when you listen back to your song. Trust me, just get it recorded- DON'T sing it a bunch of times over, just once or twice, then save it..... take a deep breath, count to 5..... and click the "submit" button.

Then, after you listen back, it'll be too late- people will have heard it...... and there's naught you can do about it.  :D

And- personal opinion- you're NOT gonna sound as good recorded onto your PC as you do live. I know I always sound better live, and have had several people tell me so. Ya just gotta suck it up and sub what you get. Strange..... but true.

And hurry it up already, sheesh!!

Yes it is...but not THAT one-hit wonder  LMAO

I may have to see if I can talk one of our KJ's into recording me live at the bar...it might be easier...

That would work, and sure take the stress out of recording yourself. I've heard alot of people sub live recordings from karaoke night, and they sound great. (I guess it depends on if the KJ knows what he's doing??)

I totally record like my vocals on a seperate track while playing the music using Audacity but they've always been in-synch. And it's pretty simple for me to use too. Usually going to a studio everytime I want to record a song is just waaaay to expensive.

I think it's the difference between MP3 and WAV...my voice racording lagged further and further as it went.
