I was intitally going to get a CAVS SCDG player. Stay away from their SCDG players. Their support stinks and their service center is only located in Calif. I frequent their forum quite often. One guy had a problem with his 203G player 6 months after buying it and shipped it to CAVS for repair. They shipped it back with the same problem. He had to eat the loss. I recently purchased Power Karaoke Player pro for my laptop. I plan on getting a Soundtech S20 unit for home use. I'm really on a budget. I'd love to get the Yamama stuff but it's way out of my budget. I also plan to get some wireless mics from Audio 2000. I was initially going to get MTU's microstudio but I refused to purchase a Plextor 716A when I already have a Pioneer DVDR05. I could have purchased another model Plexter from Newegg but changed my mind after finding out about PowerKaraoke. P.S. - I wish Yamaha had some entry level PA speakers for home use! |

Maybe I can add some more to this. People have also said to stay away from Vocopro. So, that leaves, (as far as standalone players). Audio 2000, RSQ, JVC, Pioneer, etc. If you already have a laptop, you could use that and save some money instead of using a dedicated player. I'm frugal, so I'm using a work laptop for karaoke. RJ Tech is not that good from what I'm seen on some forums too. Also, a lot of guys on the forum have said that you can get more bang for the buck if you get speakers separately instead of an all in one unit. Again, I was going to get a dedicated player at first and thought about an all in one. I wish most of the dedicated players or all in one units were able to play MP3+Gs. The ones I've seen that can do this cost at least $600+. I'd strongly suggest using a laptop or desktop. You can use the MP3+G format if you use a computer. You also don't have to worry about using discs or discs skipping. Here are some of the websites for the manufacturers that I mentioned. www.rsqaudio.com http://www.audio2000s.com/ I plan on getting my SoundTech S20 from www.music123.com I'd rather have Yamaha speakers but my budget won't allow it. http://www.music123.com/SoundTech-S20-i131742.music I plan on getting my Audio 2000 wireless speakers from www.karaoke.com http://www.karaoke.com/cgi-bin/WebObjec ... &key=40983 |

I was hoping that someone else would respond. Here are some places to purchase a dedicated player or all in one unit if you decide to go that route. www.karaoke.com www.dbkaraoke.com www.dtskaraoke.com www.acekaraoke.com |

thanks pc doctor, i definitely will not choose vocopro since i had probs with it playing my cds. i have a lot of karaoke cds that i have made and all the cheap players play with no problem, ex: gpx , memorex. , but i want a good sounding system. i don't want to go with a laptop. so i will prob be buying a player and speakers. i guess i would need an amplifier???? i will check those websites you listed, i appreciate the help |

I am the person pcdoctor was referring to with CAVS PROBLEMS. I certify this to be true -CAVS STINKS!!! and I won't buy from them ever again. Here is something new. I just discovered RSQ NEO E500 and there is a rave going on on the quality and service of this machine. I am continuing my research on this product. It seems to be going for around $250 - $300 including bonus disc. Any chance someone else has had experience with this machine? |

i plan on ordering the SoundTech S20 PA speakers very soon but still not set on a cdg player yet. http://www.music123.com/SoundTech-S20-i ... usic?qso=2 the price on these are $199.00, seems like a good bargain to me, if someone knows of some better around this price range or maybe around $250.00 please let me no. There's so many cdg players out there to choose from. i really would like a pioneer, but they are a bit pricey for me, really and truly all i really need is just a single tray with a key changer and maybe a few more nice features. i only have cdg disc and my backup burned discs, etc...... no other formats keeping it simple , so the player would only have to play cdg's and be compatible to read my burned cdg disc also. if someone knows of a player described to do these things please let me know. btw, thanks for mentioning the SoundTech S20 PA speakers pcdoctor! Thanks guys i appreciate all the info. |

I've seen the BR series and the prices. I guess I should have said budget entry level. I wish they had some 100 watt speakers around the same prices as the SoundTech stuff. I wish I could go for their basic BR series and a nice amp but it's beyond my reach. |

You could go with something like http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i- ... 06_76.html although it wouldn't give a whole lot of bass response. It would be worth it to save up for a little better system instead of getting something now just to have it. |

Lonnie, i didn't know you could get a yamaha speaker for that price, 250 watts. The soundtech s20 pa speakers are only 160 watts........ i guess with the yamaha speaker i would need a mixer or amplifier, or both. i don't know....... what do you suggest? please don't laugh, i have no clue on these technical matters, but i sure like to sing |

I assume you would have to get two of the Yamaha's to be effective or are you saying one is enough for home use? Also, I assume the amp you are going to recommend will cost over $250. |

thanks TopherM, that setup is very similar to the soundtech S20 pcdoctor mentioned soundtech s20 pa 160watts $199.00 squire 4 pa system 120 watts $229.00 looks like the soundtech s20 would be better buy and louder sound, both got good reviews. it seems like the squire brand is more popular though. i am meeting someone local today to look at pa speaker system with mixer, called about an ad in a local buy/sell bulletin magazine in our area, he didn't give any details, hopefully it will be what i'm looking for, don't know price yet, he told me to make an offer........... crossing my fingers |
