I tried Hoster and yeah maybe I didn't give it a chance as I chose to run it one show but that one show showed me how hard running it would be with having to remember that I was looking for artist or song title because the search engine wasn't a keep it simple type search engine like the program that I was running before I got Hoster whcih I have gone back to. Oh and Hoster changes the MP3+G files to KMA so technicly it doesn't really play Mp3+G Zipped just modified for Hoster versions of the files. RoxBox, Sax And Dotty's Show Presenter, SWift Elite and Ultralite, and Compuhost all play unmodified Mp3+G Zipped. Out of all of those I personally believe that RoxBox is the best as you don't need a separate program to dj with on top of RoxBox. |

Danny - If you have not seen the most recent version of hoster you are really missing a great search feature. It has dramatically improved over the last few months. Download their trial version and see for yourself. |

The guy that owns MTU claims he will NEVER give Hoster that ability cause it would allow folks to trade pirated music....Yet Hoster will play other formats.....I considered that pretty one-way of him, so I demanded my money back and got winamp for free...Gee, it will rip and play any popular format. |

Hoster is now 200 bucks, same as XP, but at least with XP, support is free...And if you participate in his forum you had better NEVER complain that something doesn't work properly or he will delete your posts and ban you. The guy is absolutely anal when it comes to piracy stuff...He ranted one day that Sax n Dotty were soon to be shut down and that all developers who used MP3 were going to be sued, and that he had consulted with lawyers and was assisting in that effort....yada, yada, yada...and no one would be able to use/play MP3's once that happened, and that his KMA format would remain the ONLY legal format....Jesus, I bet he has lots of stress/anger issues seeing how billions of people continue to use MP3 and free MP3 rippers/players! I live for the day someone writes a free plugin that plays KMA |

He doesn't make you do anything. The upgrades he releases are improvements and not flaw fixes. He issues flaw fixes free to People who own the version that is being fixed. I have known Dave for 3 years now, and Nothing you have said here could be farther from the truth. Could it be you are bitter at MTU, because after he gave you the refund, he said he would never sell to you again, I wonder. Yes, I read the entire threads you posted to over at the MTU website, I see a completely different story than you are representing here. |

Go read the version history on his page, and his policies page too....You will see that most of the updates and upgrades are in fact fixes...You will also see where he does charge for support....Hey, who can explain it better than him? Sorry to turn this into a Hoster pro/con issue...I would just as soon discuss alternate programs....Therefore I'll refrain from discussing Hoster any further. I wasted unuff of my time and money when I converted my whole library to KMA and then discovered it's limitations. |

Actually, I find the whole MTU pro/con thing quite interesting. For me price is a great factor so $200.00 is out of the question. It doesn't seem like it's heavily feature packed for the money but still a lot of people use it over some of the cheaper programs. I would really like to know what the good points of MTU are and the bad as well. |

No thanks not willing to pay more money for an upgrade that in my opinion still has less features than RoxBOx of which the cost is over 50% the cost of hoster with free upgrades. |

You still need a separate program to play your filler music. You can't record your singers. I can do all that with Roxbox. RoxBox's only limit in my opinion is the fact that no one has come up with a decent fix for multiplex. |

This is the price of 8 sound choice disks?...... It saves me carrying setting up, and looking up 1600 cd's when I do a show. I bought Hoster 3 years ago when it was $350.00 and I don't regret it a bit. If you would like to know what it will do, They have a Demo version. I suggest you download it and try, then make up your mind for yourself. They spell out on the website exactly what you get for your purchase. There is a $99.00 version of it if price is a problem. First hand experience is worth more than anything. |

Actually hoster will play Mp3's mp3+g, wma's video's and vcd's. It will play filler music, and handle multiplex. |

Yeah but can you access your filler music the same way that you access your karaoke with hoster. I owned hoster lite and for the private gig it would have worked for me for that as it was an all karaoke gig. In my bar gigs it isn't "Professional" to sound like a jukebox when switching between karaoke songs and filler. Hoster doesn't do access my dj music the way i access it with RoxBox. The only benefit of Hoster really is it's multiplex but I have a multiplex button on my mixer to handle that. |
