I've had a few medical issues lately, and have started thinking I might have some serious issues.

Since about November, I have had a raspy throat. Not a bad cold, just a bit of the Janis Joplin thing going on. JUST enough to annoy the heck out of someone who likes to sing. Can't hit the notes I used to, can't even TOUCH falsetto anymore. Actually, it's confused me. Normally, when I get a "throat thing" (such as when I go around ciggy smoke)..... I totally lose my voice for a day or two, maybe get congested.......  then I take some expectorant & drink lots a water, and it goes away. Sometimes it turns into a sinus thing. (doctor said that's normal when you take expectorant & bring all that gunk up outta your chest, for it to settle into a sinus thing.) ANYhow....... wasn't THAT a glamorous statement?     LOL

But, I've had other health issues. I have been getting sick- alot. Not "feeling sick", I just........ hope none of you feel queazy, if you do, leave NOW......

I get nauseated WAY too easy. Get in a fight with hubby- I puke. Get an anxiety attack- I puke. Get to feeling depressed or stressed out- I puke. It really took a toll on me over the summer, I drastically dropped weight- really fast. I had my mom, dad, all my sisters, even my daughter- accusing me of doing something I shouldn't be.  But I couldn't explain the getting sick- or the weight loss.  My arms and legs kinda started to resemble tooth picks.

Anyhow, that got a BIT better the last few months. I had put about 7-8 pounds back on. But I'm back there again, already have dropped 5 pounds over the last couple weeks- without trying to. And I've been sick aplenty.

THEN.... for the last few days, I have had this odd feeling in my chest- not a pain, just a wierd feeling. So much so that it was waking me up alot at night- and yes, making me puke.

So I finally went to the doctor yesterday, scared maybe this "bad cold I can't shake" had turned into a light form of pneumonia or something.

And guess what it was? He thinks I have a peptic ulcer....... and said I have severe acid reflux. I thought only OLD MEN got acid reflux?

It all makes sense I guess. That's why I get sick so much..... it comes on with stress..... it's worse at night.  (If only I paid more attention to TV commercials, I may coulda figured this one out on my own!!)

Funniest thing he said though, was that THIS is what's wrong with my throat. The acid coming up the throat at night, and irritating it. He asked if I'm more hoarse in the morning.... and of course I am.  He did a full check of my throat, ears, nose, blah-blah-blah...... and said I have NO congestion at all. My lungs are perfectly fine, it's just that irritation from acid reflux.

So.... I'm on Prevacid....... which I've taken before, cause I've had an ulcer before.

All in all, I came away from the doctor happy. I was scared it was gonna be something much worse- like pneumonia (which I've never had)- or heaven forbid throat cancer starting or something.

And- he gave me some Zoloft...... thinks I need a "chill pill" in my life...... but I'm not taking that stuff. It's just the adult form of Ridalin. If I need to get all "spaced out" to deal with life's issues, heck, I'll just drink more alcohol.  :D

But- to have my throat issues- and my stomach issues- and the weight loss- and even the tiredness (from not sleeping well) ALL packaged up into one little thing...... to say the least, it was nice to finally get an answer to what was causing it all.

So, I'm hoping this Prevacid will help (he said 10 days is all it will take, but gave me a month's supply)....... and maybe my throat will be better. And maybe I can sleep..... and keep food in my belly where it belongs.

Anybody else ever deal with something like this? Hello? Where'd ya all go? Did I gross everyone out with my "puke" stories? I promise...... I puke in a most glamorous sort of way.  :D

Dunno why I felt compelled to share this here.... I share most everything here anyhow.... and I guess I'm a bit excited to have an answer to this finally and wanted to share it. And yeah, I guess I don't have too much of a life outside of KS.

I am so glad you went to the doctor and found out what this was.  Now you can get on with being you and feeling alot better very fast (hopefully)....That acid reflux is something you don't want to mess with, make sure you take your meds as described cause it can lead to more serious issues....

Ive Been having the same problem for 2 months now. You can tell by going and listening to some of my Submissions in singers showcase.
Mine has a diffrent ending than your's but however it may help someone.

Problem :Raspy voice mostly in the morning but still unable to sing at night.

I couldnt figger it out so I started dicecting evrything that has changed in the past few months.

Suspect : Ionic Breeze Christmas Present from Girlfriend. I did a google search on Ionic Breeze problems and found many people have noticed the same and more severe respotory problems. I unplugged my Ionic Breeze and have been slowly improving.
MY Ionic Breeze was used in me bedroom a small room 15'X20' I sleep alone with my door closed. The Ionic Breeze emmits OZONE and it musta been too much for my throat to be breathing it in all night.

slowly coming back around.

I turn the Ionic Breeze on in the morning and when Im In Daytona for the weekend ( Yes Steve I'm Back with Bobbi)  However I do not use it when Im in the room.

Great thread Charmin.. so Glad your problem is controlable

I just posted this for a "just incase anyone else has an Ionic Breeze" they work great but OZONE is not to be breathed in constantly.

Thats My 3 Cents

I'm so glad it wasn't anything worse either amiga. I had that happen when i was 11 and my father died...terrible things happened during and after...and i was so stressed...my mom who had just lost her husband was now worrying bout her daughter. They put me on medication for it...and helped us both cope with the stuff happening...and it slowly got better. Ulcers can be serious if not caught in time. Take care of yourself sweetie....and i'm glad you didn't take the other stuff too.

  Glad to hear that you were able to go see a doctor and get some relief and answers. Acid reflux cna be a serious and painful condition and nothing to play games with. Stress also can cause many other disorders that can slowly take a toll on your total health, so please take care of yourself and try to get better. :)

Thanks g/f...... you know, it's really not a big deal......... I THOUGHT what the doc was gonna tell me would be a big deal. To hear what I did was kind of a relief. Just something small, and there's a pill to fix it all. Well, maybe not "all"...... but I'm workin' on how to handle stress. (loadin' my gun, using the whetrock on my knife, putting a comfier grip on my splittin' maul..... LMAO )
Ashley Simpson....... I heard something about her lip syncing, but didn't know the story. Huh. Wonder if I could get AWAY with that at karaoke? You know, put some of my old recordings on cd & play them down there while I lip sync along? I don't have any on my comp- but Don has them all, haha, I could get him to burn me a cd. I best not do that though. Might get me a bad (worse??) rep for myself.

MICHAEL....... I SO was wanting one of those things- they had one on display once at a store, and the air coming out of it smelled like being in the mountains or something. Thank you for the heads up, cause I'll be danged if I'll get one NOW. Yikes. Atleast you figured it out, so you can avoid it.

Oh, Melly....... to have that problem so young!! And here I'm whining about ME...... and I'm on my way to being OLD. And, no, I am certain I wont be taking that other stuff..... I have no desire to be addicted to a "feel better pill".

Dr. Keith: You think I should just get a divorce then? Okay, then, you write me a prescription for it....... then I can tell him "Dr's orders" and maybe he'll go along with it. (wait till after my anniversary though...... he owed me a couple nights on the town first..... LoL)

Well, I don't have medical insurance. My mom's been yelling at me for months to go see a doctor. But I don't need the bills. And I really thought it would end up being a bigger deal than this........ I was really starting to think I had BIG probs. Had I of known is was this small of a thing to handle, I would have already went & got the Prevacid. But, you know, hindsight's 20/20 and all that.

Yeah, I know, I've been getting that lecture from friends & family...... trust me, I've heard it quite often. Then the nice doctor fella spent a good 15 minutes letting me know what all can happen if I don't "get a grip on it". But I'm working on that part of it, really. I'm just glad the stomach/throat thing can (hopefully) come to an end now.

TY guys for giving tips....... I appreciate your comments.

I'm so glad there's nothing more seriously wrong!  :D   But what you've described is serious enough for sure.  I thought there was something more going on then just the cigarette smoke problem but I wasn't sure what.  Heck, if anything ever happened to you, things would be a lot sadder and a lot more boring!  :(   I want to hear and see you out doing some karaoke as soon as you feel like it.!  Paul should have that air cleaner any day now according to Alex and Desiree.  It's on order.  So, take good care of yourself.  :)

I'm glad everything is okay. The doctor can be a scary place if you don't know what's wrong. I haven't been to the doctor in years.

I'm due for a mamogram. Yuch! I think I would rather have a truck run over my foot.

First of all........ PINKROSE......... do like Milo said, and RUN.  LMAO Nah, not really. Keith is not as "tough" as he thinks he is. He's actually a sheep in wolves clothing, I already got him figgered out. He's a nice guy inside, he just acts all tough.  Not near as scary once you get to know his real "nice guy" side.  :D

Quote:

Well, you certainly know a bit more than folks here do, but I TOLD ya...... it's not as serious as all that. So I'll be on the mend soon.

Quote:
Heck, if anything ever happened to you, things would be a lot sadder and a lot more boring!

Ah, that's sweet Don. If only Lonnie felt the same.  LMAO  I know, you're missing our nights out at karaoke..... but so am I...... big time.

Quote:

Well, it's about freakin' time he did!! If Alex & Desiree say it's on order, then I guess he musta really held up to his promise finally. Kewl. It'll be nice to go there & not choke to death while singing.  :dancin:  And, Don, I (almost) always take good care of myself.

Milo..... Didn't mean to scare ya. It was more a "guess what....... I'm not really dying" type of thread. I was excited with the news I got. It was meant to be a happy thread..... not a scary one.  TY sweetie.

Babs..... Yeah, I hear ya there. The doctor IS a scary place, maybe that's why I held off going so long. The guy I go to (I don't have medical insurance) is really great. He bills me, so I don't have to pay up front..... and he's a really nice guy. He's real thorough, and answers all my questions without making me feel like an idget for asking.  So I coulda went sooner....... but I was scared I guess to get some "other" kind of diagnosis from him. I just finally went cause I was starting to get creepy feelings about what might be wrong.
A mamogram? Ewww....... I haven't had to do that yet. But I've heard they are awful. Anyhow, TY.

Now, what are ya talkin' about? Acid reflux & ulcers are NOT a "female thang". You want me to start talking about my cramps? And my bloating? And my bitchiness I get every month? (oh yeah, you've already witnessed that I reckon)  LMAO Or how about the new Victoria Secret bra I'm thinking of buying cause it's seamless... and you don't have any LINES showing under your shirts? Or.... I just got some new jeans & I'm hoping my butt don't look too big in 'em. Maybe I can post a pic to see what you all think?

Actually, I AM gonna get a little "girly" today. I gotta go finish my living room curtains, and plan for a baby shower I'm having at my house friday for a friend. Ya wanna hear all about that?  :dancin:

Hahaha.........mornin' Keith.    (yeah, I know, afternoon....... but it's still mornin' to me......... I was lazy & slept in a bit)

<PERK>

What would the symptoms be assuming I had a cyst on my right fallopian tube ?

I've been obsessing !   I know last time I went for the mammogram,  my gynecologist said "Kappy,  Lay off the caffeine for a few months that stuff can make you cystic".... but I have to admit, I've been avoiding going back. I hate those MRI's, and needle biopsy's... After that awful Colposcopy procedure 6 years ago, I can't deal with another procedure...  Men (if you can call them that) don't know just how lucky they are to not have been born the superior gender !   The good lord made those simpleton's, with less that can go wrong... It's bad enough that they struggle just keeping control of one thing  (assuming they even attempt to control that one little thing   .

Oy, don't get me started, DON'T EVEN get me started !

Correction, Steven............. Us gals control that "one little thing" as well.  LMAO  Even though YOU men carry it around, WE control it. Make no mistake. You're just here to be the bearer of it.  :dancin:
