This is weird....If my BBE822a is switched off, I still get full sound thru both sides of it, just not processed with the BBE effect. Does that appear normal? A few weeks ago, I had no sound on one side or subs...I found that Robbie had switched it off.......So today I was in the rack removing a compressor and I decided to recheck all my patching.....The BBE was pacthed correctly, so I cranked up and tested it.....When I twisted the pots, I got scratching sounds from the speaks, so I kept working them till the scratching went away...OK, I figure the pots were dirty cause they never need adjusted and that is why the sounded scratchy. But now when I turn it off, I get sound thru both sides, not just one like before.... Do you think the dirty pots caused one side to drop out? |

I'm running the old 362 It doesnt have a true bypass which I keep on the todo list and never get to it You actually run shielded wire from the inputs thru the bypass switch and to the outs . That way if it loses power or other things you can bypass it and stay in operation. The way mine is if you turn it off I get a real weak crackly distorted sound which is a bleed thru from capacitance etc.. You shouldnt get full volume unless it is a true hard wired bypass...And if it is nothing in the box is going to affect it. |

Yeah, this one has a bypass switch, but I'm taking about when I actually turn the unit off and it is not powered up at all....I still get full SPL's thru it, just no effects. If anything else in my rack is turned off, then no sound at all.... Oh, the BBE is patched series, not inserted. |

Yea Im not awake yet and hungover I just turned mine off and get the weak distorted sound but its real weak... I might get in the junk box and get a 12 v relay to bypass it when it loses power Then just run the relay ground thru the bypass switch.. |

I just wrote BBE.....I'll see what they say.....I see the owner's manual has the calibration procedure and specs....I might carry it into my workplace and get the geeks in the lab to clean and tweek it. |

Id never seen the manual I downloaded it Its even got the schematics The by pass applies a voltage to the lsi single chip which makes it hard to tell but it does need power if in series and there could be bleed thru.. For tests and a signal generator I use this It wouldnt be hard to calibrate this unit Get a 12 pack bud light and we will do it.. Before 2 beers.... |

I use the 422A and the 862 & neither one of them pass signal when shut off so that seems a little strange that yours did/does that. |

By all rights it shouldnt but I do get a real real weak signal thru I found a relay... tomorrow when my head is clear and my hands arnt shakin I'll put a bypass in and power the relay when the power is on it routes thru the proc if power off it goes direct from in to out. And switch the relay thru the bypass switch... |
