I've had this happen TWICE in the last two days.......


I am quite familiar with how the PM's work here. Gosh knows, I've gotten enough practice the last few days. ( ...... thanks to all you "inquiring minds who want to know")

But twice now, I've been in my PM's, spent oh, atleast 15-20 minutes writing a carefully thought out PM....... trying really hard to word it how I think it needs to be worded...... (and hey, don't ask, mind your own business)

ANYhow, then I preview it, you know me- always checking for spelling errors- then I hit SOMETHING on the keyboard, and my message is GONE......

It's not in my "outbox", nor my "sentbox"........ it's just GONE. What the heck am I doing wrong?

I would feel like a fool to try to write it all again. I mean, it was after all carefully thought out...... and I have no way of knowing if it got sent or not....... so I can't try to redo it & chance somebody getting this same PM twice, but worded a bit differently. Then I would look like a huge dork.

So how do you know what happened to it? I mean, anyone ever had that happen? I don't know if it was sent (I don't think so)....... but I can't be sure. And, surely it could not get sent into "Karaoke Scene Outerspace" where someone else will see it right?  :shock:

That happened to me a few times.  It usually happened when I added one of the emoticoms to a message... Forgot which one...Yet there are a few (I believe) which for some reason wipe out content that precedes them

Not trying to be funny here.  just don't  "hit SOMETHING on the keyboard".  Can't you just hit Submit after the preview?

Here's another weird trivia question about the site....On the list if new posts,  when you drag your mouse cursor to a heading, it often shows briefly a white box with content heading without even opening the any messages.  A solid white box.... When I drag my mouse to CHarmins thread regarding "To anyone concerned", the white box blinks at even intervals.  why is that ?  No other messages do..


This only happens in the "view posts since last visit" category however.... When the mouse touches the thread heading....

Yes, that was my intention........ but I THINK this is what I'm doing.......

You ever preview your message first? Well, it puts it in a new box up top...... and if I see something I want to change, I need to change it down below- in the actual message box........ I think I'm hitting my shift key (with my cursor up in the preview box) to start typing in the WRONG place...... and it's deleting it.

But I'm guessing it's deleted.

I'm gonna go play with it and see if I can figure out just what the @&@&%^ I did.

So...... if ANYone gets a wierd looking PM from me, it's just dweeb practice, okay?

Here, lets keep this simple. Don, I'll go play with a PM to YOU....... lemme know if you get one that looks hoaky. Tell ya what, I'll type the lyrics to a song, make it so it's little "dissappear" trick, and see if you get it? Okay? Cause you have NOTHING better to do today, right?

Try this sweetcheeks......type your PM or forum post in another program like notepad, then cut and paste it into the PM or forum window. It should work everytime.....That way you still have it if it doesn't show due to a glitch....Sometimes if you take a really long time wording your PM or post, it screws up like happened to you, so prevent it by composing in notepad.

And what a beautiful world it is.  Except I'm not getting paid, but who cares for now!

Steven, I think the forum has a built in script that indicates by blinking whenever a post/poster is kinda flakey.....  It's a sort of warning I think.

Keith, for crying out loud, please leave off the pet names........ yes, my cheeks are sweet- or so I've been told.  :wink:  But I really don't care for that nicname, and you've called me that ATLEAST four or five times. I'd really prefer *b1tch* to be honest.... I hate when men call us women those cheap, condescending little names.

Hello, if you can manage to ignore the degrading names-did my suggestion help you with your problem?

CTRL A SELECT ALL
CTRL C COPY
CTRL V PASTE

copy it once in awhile, so you don't have to backtrack.

or use Word to write with and then cut and paste to here. Then F7 spell check/grammer check it!

That will be $40 bucks!

What? I can't hear you through all the let's-run-down-Charmin words that are flying around...... hang on, I'll try really hard to turn down the volume of those.......

For the record, I'm not a dumbA$$ either. I know I could write it elsewhere and copy & paste it into the PM.......

My big question is really just..... where did these PM's go to? I just would like to know if I accidentally erased them..... or if, when they went "poof"...... if they got sent.  Guess I wont know the answer, and I'll take a chance at hurting my pride, and go rewrite it AGAIN.....

And if I sent it 2 times, I can take the chance that I'll look like a dork. Hey, I've been called worse than dork........ oh look up, even today matter of fact. Just add dork to my list I guess.  :drunk:

Today is not a good day for me. I'm not in the most playful moods. Not apologizing, cause I'm not in the mood for that either. I'm more in a fighting type of mood.

Not your fault, though the names are piosing me a bit....... somebody else already pushed my biotch button today. Not you.

Maybe there is a limit on how many PM's you can have/send, and you need to clear the buffer....See if there is a meter on your PM page that says it's full. If it is, then try clearing out some of your sent and recieved stuff.....Sorry if my suggestions come across as me treating you like you are stupid. As it turns out, I have a sincere respect for you.

You don't have to say you're sorry. I consider you a friend. My friends can dump on me without limit....It also helps that you are really cute!
