I can't help you there....I'm looking at a new MB, but it must be ATX full size Athlon based, not Pentium. Go here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1043672&CatId=1129 It has lots of PCI slots, USB 2.0 and will accept any of my spare CPU's, is set up for ATA Raid, ram is super cheap for it...And for $49 bucks, how can I go wrong? In fact, I think I'll order it now. Edit:...I just ordered it...$58 shipped ain't bad, huh? I can use my old MB for the security system I plan to build "one of these days" |

I'm retinking the new motherboard....It should arrive today, but I'll return it for another one once I select it. I've been reading up on DAW's and it seems best to go with Socket 754 Athlon 64 MB with compatable chipset and some smokin RAM for decent price/performance. I need at least 3 PCI slots and AGP...5 PCI would be mo better. I got an email in to AMD asking which board and chipset they suggest for DAW. AMD is good about testing and certifying boards for use with their processors, so why not ask them? Karyoker, make sure the 775 MB you chose has an Intel chipset!...There have been some issues with latency/hangs/skips with some of the other chipsets when used with the Pent as a DAW platform. Tigerdirect has a good selection of 775 boards with intel chipsets and lots of user reviews on them. Search the home recording forums for lots of info also. |

Not familiar with the 774 mb. But I have a 939 mb by MSI that uses the nvidea chipset. I got the matching Msi (nvidea) video card. This combo works great. It is a single pci with 8 expansion slots. Made for the athalon 64 x2 has only 1 sli slot. I dont see any point for 2 sli slots. 2 gigs of ram. 600 watt p.s. I think the 775 is for the single core prosessor, but I am not sure of that. |
