What has been the worst moment you've had singing or while you were working as a KJ? So far mine has been mild, I was singing "Make the world go away" and some gal came up and started singing with me. The KJ gave her the other mic. She was acting like she was on a movie set, hanging all over me and singing to me. My wife was not a happy woman. For the rest of the night she kept asking me where in the you know what, do you know that woman form. Everybody in the audience thought we were great together except one - my wife. |

Some people will do anything to get attention. I've had similiar situations at my show where a girl will come up and dance all over the singer like a sleese. I think girls do it for attention. They want to get up on stage so people will notice them. They can't sing, so they join someone or dance all over them. I had to console a wife one night explaining that the girl does it to everyone. I did it one better by calling the wife up to sing next and announcing it was his wife. I don't care if this goes on if the singer doesn't mind. The guys like it usually. I'd say my worst night is when my fiancee got drunk and ended up getting barred. I was working the show! |

D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! D'OH! Oh come one... then don't post in it; post in a thread that catches your attention.. like the flirt thread Hmm, worst time as a singer? Probably my first time singing in public. We have many friends that are GREAT singers and three of them were there (one was the KJ). I sang "It's Too Late" which is one of my favorite songs but not one typically heard in karaoke or elsewhere... Worst time as a KJ? Probably when two young cuties got in my face because their friend wasn't going to get up to sing because it was too late. I alerted the bartender that if the young ladies didn't get out of my face there might be trouble, he made them move to the other side of the bar. They came in the next week and apologized. They are now regulars. :) Hopefully this will always be the worst time(s)... Susie |

I don't mean for this to sound like a sweeping generalization, because it's not intended to be.. Is it just me, or is it pretty common that those DJ'ing, or KJ'ing often aren't individuals who are good singers.. Similarly, many decent musicians, don't like to dance, or can't dance.. ? YES, I know there are many exceptions, yet from my own experience, well over 50% of both of these instances exist, Musicians are often not the best dancers, and DJ's not the best singers by any stretch of the imagination ? Just my own life's observations, sure I know of exceptions.. Here's another shallow statement, yet I've found it true Dr's and Scientist's that are decent or excellent musicians. Seem's to be quite a few. Perhaps an explanation for this is aptitude for certain things given thet type of mathematical abilities they have, or would it be that intelligent enough people that do anything, will tend to do it better than average ? Not sure.... Just my experiences of situations that I've found to be. Not saying it's so I'd also get into Cops, lead guitarists, Navy Seal's, and CEO's being a VERY high percentage of s partners in the D/s scene, yet that of course has no place in here, so forget I typed it ! |

Is it just me, or is it pretty common that those DJ'ing, or KJ'ing often aren't individuals who are good singers.. I'm not so sure about that one Steve. I once asked the kj where I go if she is required to sing being the kj, and she stated yes, that is part of her contract. And she's a beautiful singer. I guess someone has to carry the show if there isn't much of a turn out. I remember one night it was only 3 of us doing the whole show for a while, kj included. That was a really good practice night for me. :oh yeah: The first time I ever took my wife to a karaoke joint at home, I was up singing "Born To Be Wild" Steppenwolf, and some wild and crazy drunk chick got up standing next to me dancing and giving me the googly eyes....I don't think my wife dug that very much....it doesn't help my defense any that women don't hit on me when I'm away from home on my job doing karaoke. Maybe that's her problem with me now. :dontknow: |

I think mine would have been the occasion that someone who I knew from work turned up at the bar. I haven't advertised the fact that I enjoy singing at karaoke because I have a feeling a certain amount of michael extraction would follow. Luckily she was pretty cool about it and the news doesn't appear to have travelled. Thankfully. |

I don't know if intelligence has anything to do with singing abilitity, I know a lot of really stupid people who sing very well and smart ones that can't sing a lick. As for embarrassing moments while singing, well there was this time I was singing in a Honky Tonk (imagine that) and this sweet young very appealing lady started to dance by herself right in front of me. She made it very obvious that she was interested in more than just my song and I was more than happy with the attention. When we I came to an instrumental part in the song and she leaned into me and whispered, "I hope that's not your wife back there". Well as she did this I looked over her shoulder back to our table and saw my wife with one of those I'm not to happy looks. It wasn't my fault that she danced for me or that she had other things in mind, but I think that the smile I had on my face is what got me into trouble. The places in which I sing this type of thing happens, although not too often anymore, pretty regularly. I have even been flashed. I enjoy the attention cause I'm attention seeking hound, but I've learned to control my response a little better. Hey I'll never be a famous entertainer with groupies and such, so this is as close as I'll ever get. I also have a deal with most of the KJs where I sing, if I'm too drunk don't let me sing and embarrass myself. Too many Tequilas and singing are not necessarily a good mix. |

HOLY %$#% KK ! I almost went blind reading your post !!!! Probably the worst is one night when some guy with beer muscle wanted his girlfriend to sing .... NEXT ---He felt he was a big shot and his little piece of A shouldn't have to wait like everyone else. Unfortunatley she had to wait a few singers and that was even bumping her WAY up. Well when she was done he grabbed the mic and called me some choice words before slamming my mic into the floor. I had a few words but kept my cool and had him and her cut off and thrown out. It was a big scene .....Then of course there was the time someone took off their SHOE and threw it at the singer almost hitting me. ( that was a big scene also ending up with people being thrown out and also having the bartender fired as they were friends of hers who threw the shoe. |

My worst moment as a karaoke singer was my FIRST moment as a karaoke singer...a friend of mine said he was a karaoke junkie, and dragged me with him...asked me to get up on stage and duet with him...and he couldn't sing the song to save his life. Great guy, just not the singer he thought he was. Worst moment as a singer though, had to be sixth-grade choir...my voice broke, and I went from alto to to baritone in about a week. My voice sounded funny to me for a LONG time after that!! |

Getting too drunk and confident and leaving the stage.... I couldn't see the words and I was singing the wrong part of the song at the wrong mment..But on the upside it did go with the music, so unless you really knew the song you prolly didn't notice... I did this on the west coast somewhere....i just found it on the Map...I was in Ocean Shores WA...I pretty big place right on the city center that Karaoke one night...It was a lot of fun and thank goodness noone knew me except for the person I was with... |

One of the most embarrasing moments for me was when friends of mine sitting in the front row, made funny faces at me - while I was singing. I couldn't help but let out a laugh and almost couldn't finish the song. |

That would have been hillarious for the audience though |
