I'm just curious who among us is ready for summer? How does it affect your routine? ie; if I hit the lake on Saturday, I know Saturday night's gig will be a long night! Do you KJ's notice a decline in singers? Does the crowd seem to make a later appearance? Do you change the hours of your show to coincide with the longer daylight hours?

Actually winter is a slow time here. If the weather stays like it is here, I will start getting a lot of business. We havent had but possibly 1 week total of winter here so far.

Around here...Thurs, Fri, & Sat gigs....It slows down fomr mid Jan to begining of March. Then there is also a slow time for about 1 month after July 4th.
We don't change our hours, or do anything different. The bar owners that we play for know that these times are slow, and save up for it the rest of the year.

Summer definately changes my karaoke show turn outs. At the peak of summer here the sun doesn't go down until midnight. . .then people hit the bars. Makes for a slow first 3 hours that's for sure!

I have been ready for summer since....... along about September when the rains started. I HATE winter, and fall. I hate rain, I hate snow, I hate wind, I hate drizzle (which Oregon excels in), I hate frost, I hate ice, I hate sleet, I hate clouds........... I guess you could say I'm a summer person. Oh- and I HATE when it gets dark at 5 or 6 o'clock. That's got to be the worst part of winter.
And I hate it being cold at the karaoke bars, cause it's too cold to go sit outside & escape the smoke, I hate driving home that late in the fog or freezing rain. I think our local place stays about the same though, winter & summer. It's a small town, and about everyone who frequents this place are locals and don't have far to drive. I think the whold town is maybe 2 1/2 to 3 miles wide, so nobody has far to come at all. And they're much too big of karaoke fanatics to let weather stop them from going to sing. (or maybe it's the drink for some of them??)

Our slow time is usually Jan. and Feb.
Not this year - I keep waiting for it to hit. I would welcome some slower nights.
Summer last year was so so. I never knew until I walked into the door what I'd get.
The one thing I've noticed in the past year is a lot more birthday partys coming in. I'm hoping it is because I try to make birthdays really special for people.

So it is Feb 2nd Groundhog day and The groundhog saw his shadow. He says six more weeks of winter...I am still waiting for winter to hit here in Texas. I think we had like a week of winter a few months back...Can't really remember when that was, it's been a while....Still waiting for the rest of winter to get here...
Temps in D/FW today are going to be in the high 70's....What kind of winter is this???
I guess I'll just have to suck it up and put on my shorts and flip flops go outside and maybe wash my car in the driveway....Soak up a couple of rays, while do this chore....
BTW, my plum trees are starting to bud already, if we do end up having a really cold burst anytime soon my plums will be ruined for the year...Yikes!!!

It was the first week of December when that ice storm hit. I was stuck in Seattle for an extra day when they closed DFW.
Think we could sell a video of you washing your car? :oh yeah: :D

THAT depends on who you ask!! I think we (me as the cameraman/director/producer=10% you as the star=90%) could make a killing without going any further than this board!! :doctor: :clapper:
